Surah al-Inshiqaaq (Surah 84: Revelation Order 83)

The events on a day the world will come to an end

  • When the sky has ruptured (84:1). And has listened to its Lord and has been made obligated (84:2). And the earth has been spread (84:3). And when has cast out what is in it and has become empty (84:4). And has listened to its Lord and has been made obligated (84:5).
  • Note: God has specified the events that will happen on a day the world will come to an end, while He will make the sky to rupture and the earth to cast out what is in it to become empty, and there are no ways that the sky and the earth will disregard His command.

Record will be given either in right hand or behind the back

  • O you mankind; indeed, you are in effort of returning towards your Lord for His meeting (84:6). So as for whoever has been given his record in his right hand (84:7). Then he will be reckoned an easy reckoning (84:8). He will return to his people happily (84:9). And as for whoever has been given his record behind his back (84:10), then he will call for destruction (84:11). And he will burn in Blazing fire (84:12). Indeed, he has been happily in his people (84:13). Indeed, he had thought that he would never return (84:14). Yes indeed, his Lord has been Seer of him (84:15).
  • Note: God has called for mankind to make effort for returning towards Him for His meeting when his record will be given either in his right hand or behind his back. Thus, those who have been given their record in their right hand will be in bliss but those who have been given their record behind their back will burn in the Blazing fire.

Oath of God

  • That nay, I swear by the twilight glow (84:16). And the night and what it has covered (84:17). And the moon when it has become full (84:18).
  • Note: God has taken an oath referring to three items from His creations: (1) the twilight glow, (2) the night that has covered, and (3) the full moon.

A painful punishment for those who have disbelieved and denied Quran

  • That you will move from stage to stage (84:19). Then what is for them they do not believe? (84:20). And when has been recited to them the Quran, they do not fall prostrate (84:21). Nay, those who have disbelieved deny (84:22). And God is Knower of what they keep within them (84:23). So, you shall inform them of a painful punishment (84:24).
  • Note: By taking oath referring to three items from His creations, God has affirmed that those who have started their journey accepting the Quran as their guidance will gradually become knowledgeable to get closer to Him but those who do not obey the Quran when it has been recited to them as well as those who have disbelieved and have denied it will have a painful punishment. Thus, the Quran is a source of knowledge and means to get closer to God for the believers, while those who do not accept it are the disbelievers and they will suffer a painful punishment.

A never ending reward for those have believed and have done the righteous deeds

  • Except those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds; for them there is a never ending reward (84:25).
  • Note: By taking oath referring to three items from His creations, God has also affirmed that there is a never ending reward for those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds.
