God, as author and teacher of the Quran has confirmed that the Quran is the straight path to our Lord, and it has everything what we need and He has not left out anything from it being complete, perfect and explained in details. Those who take heed to His words will have a home of the peace with their Lord and He will be their Protector as well. Thus, there is every word in it that we need to perfect practice of the given rites as well as to do the righteous deeds obeying His commands and laws:
[6:126] This (Quran) is the straight path to your Lord. Certainly, we have explained the revelations for a people to take heed.
[6:127] For them, there is a home of the peace with their Lord, and He will be their Protector because of what they have done to accomplish.
[18:109] Say, “If the ocean had been ink for my Lord’s words; surely, the ocean would have run out before that my Lord’s words would run out, even if we had brought of like of it as (ink) supplement.”
[31:27] And if whatever of trees in the earth were pens, and the ocean adding to it after it into seven oceans (as ink supply), God’s words would not have run out. Indeed, God is Almighty, Wise.
[6:38] And neither of a creature in the earth nor a bird flies with its wings, but are communities like you. We have not left out of anything in the scripture; then to their Lord they will be gathered.
[6:114] Is there then other than God I should seek as judge, while He is the One who has revealed to you the scripture explained in detail? And those whom we have given them the scripture know that it is a sent down from your Lord with the truth. So, you do not be with the doubtful ones.
[6:115] And your Lord’s word has completed truth and justice. There is no modifier of His words, and He is the Hearer, the Knower.
[7:52] And certainly, we had brought to them of a scripture we have explained it with knowledge of guidance and mercy for a people to believe.
[41:3] A scripture has been detailed its verses in an Arabic Quran for a people to know.
The Author
God is the author of the Quran, a scripture with built-in proof of divine authorship. There are both literal and mathematical proofs that the Quran came from God, the Almighty, the Most Wise, the Most Cognizant and the Omniscient. Hence, the Quran is characterized by the mathematical literary composition, and the mathematical proof embedded in the text of the Quran has been unveiled in 1974 by God’s leave after 1400 years of the revelation of the Quran.
Literal (logical) Proof
[4:82] Would they not then study the Quran carefully? If it had been from other than God, surely, they would have found in it a lot of contradiction.
[10:37] And it has not been this – the Quran that it could be produced by other than God, but is a confirmation of that which was before itself and a detailed explanation of the scripture. There is no doubt in it, is from Lord of the worlds.
[11:1] Alif.Laam.Ra. A scripture has been perfected its verses, then has been explained in detail from Wise, Cognizant.
[20:113] And thus that we have revealed it an Arabic Quran, and we have explained in it with the warnings that they may fear, or it may cause for them a remembrance.
[39:1] A revelation of the scripture is from God – the Almighty, the Wise.
[40:2] A revelation of the scripture is from God – the Almighty, the Knower.
[45:2] A revelation of the scripture is from God – the Almighty, the Wise.
Mathematical (physical) Proof
There are many attributes of God that confirm His presence in our hearts. We are most familiar with the literal attributes of God but He has also numeric attributes. His literal attribute, “Waheed” means One (1) and its abjad or gematrical (ancient numerical system used by the Arabs) value is 19. Hence, 19 is another numeric attribute of God. In addition, the “19” is the common multiplier throughout the Quran’s mathematical system being one of the great miracles as found in (74:30-35):
[74:30] Over it is nineteen.
[74:31] And we have not made guardians of the Fire except angels, and we have not made their number except a warning for those who have disbelieved, that it may ascertain those who have been given the scripture (Jews and Christians) and may increase faith of those who have believed (Muslims), and may not doubt those who have been given the scripture (Jews and Christians) and the believers (Muslims). And that may say those in their hearts there is a disease (hypocrites) and the disbelievers, “What has God meant by this allegory?” Thus that God misguides whomever He wills and He guides whomever He wills. And none knows your Lord’s soldiers except He. And it is not except a reminder for the human race.
[74:32] Nay, by the moon.
[74:33] And the night as it passes.
[74:34] And the morning as it shines.
[74:35] Indeed, this is surely one of the great (miracles).
The Quran has many mathematical proofs from simple to complex that it is from God but here are the very simple ones cited as examples being 19 as the common denominator:
- The first verse, the foundation of the Quran (1:1) is composed of 19 Arabic letters => 19 = 19x1.
- The total occurrence of each word in the first verse (1:1) of the Quran in the whole Quran composed of 4 words: Ism (19 = 19X1), Allah (2696= 19x142), Al-Rahman (57 = 19x3) and Al-Raheem (114= 19x6).
- The total number of suras (chapters) in the Quran => 114 = 19x6.
- The total number of verses in the Quran => 6234 (numbered) + 112 (unnumbered) = 6346 = 19x334.
- The famous first revelation (96:1-5) consists of 19 words => 19 = 19x1.
- The first revelation (surah 96) consists of 19 verses => 19 = 19x1 and 76 words => 76 = 19x3.
- The first verse of the last revelation (110:1) consists of 19 Arabic letters => 19 = 19x1.
- The last revelation (surah 110) consists of 19 Arabic words => 19 =19x1.
- The total occurrence of the word “Quran” (as spelled out Quran or al-Quran making it different from Quranan) in the Quran => 57 = 19x3.
The Teacher
- The Most Gracious. The teacher of the Quran. (al-rahman. `allama al-quran) (55:1-2).
Per above verses, the Most Gracious is the teacher of the Quran and He teaches us His commandments, laws and rites including prophecies, explanations, repetitions, examples, assurance, confirmations, analogy, history, mathematical proofs and scientific facts so that we, as students, can learn what we need to learn to lead a righteous life by strengthening our belief as well as perfecting our religious practices as given by Him.
The study of the word “عَلَّمَ” (‘allama) means taught, teacher (in the perfect active verb form) occurs 22 times in the Quran. But 19 out of 22 instances refer to God as teacher of man directly or through the instrumentality of angels are:
1. 2:31; 2. 2:32; 3. 2:239; 4. 2:251; 5. 2:282; 6. 4:113; 7. 5:4; 8. 5:110; 9. 12:37; 10. 12:68; 11. 12:101; 12. 18:65; 13. 21:80; 14. 36:69; 15. 53:5; 16. 55:2; 17. 55:4; 18. 96:4; 19. 96:5.
The other 3 instances where the word `allama refers to man’s teaching are: 1. 5:4; 2. 20:71; 3. 26: 49.
Hence, in terms of the occurrences of the words “Rahman”, “‘allama” (referring to God as teaching), and “Quran” (as shown below) in the Quran, the first two verses of chapter 55 reveal the following symmetry:
57 —– 19 —– 57
The Quran
The Quran proclaims that the Quran is complete, perfect, and fully detailed (6:38, 6:114-115; 7:52). Therefore, the true believers uphold the Quran, the whole Quran, and nothing but the Quran (6:19, 50:45). This principle is confirmed by the Quran’s mathematical code either.
As is well known, the number 19 is the abjad value of the Arabic word “wahid” means One, and the main theme of the Quran is that God (Allah) is One. We have found additional symmetries with other words and phrases in the Quran that represent a number and a relationship between numbers.
Occurrences of “Quran” in the Quran
In the Quran, the Arabic word “ ” (Quran) with an abjad (gematrical) value of 351 is found 58 times and the word “ ” (qur’anan) with an abjad (gematrical) value of 352 is found 10 times in the Quran. As spelled, the word “ ” (Quran) is grammatically different from the related word “ ” (qur’anan) which has an extra letter alif as a prop for the so-called tanwin (a grammatical device to express indefiniteness). Now, the word “Quran” with the abjad value of 351 as spelt “ ” with or without the definite article occurs in the following verses:
1. 2:185, 2. 4:82, 3. 5:101, 4. 6:19, 5. 7:204, 6. 9:111, 7. 10:15, 8. 10:37, 9. 10:61, 10. 12:3, 11. 15:1, 12. 15:87, 13. 15:91, 14. 16:98, 15. 17:9, 16. 17:41, 17. 17:45, 18. 17:46, 19. 17:60, 20. 17:78, 21.17:78, 22. 17:82, 23. 17:88, 24. 17:89, 25. 18:54, 26. 20:2, 27. 20:114, 28. 25:30, 29. 25:32, 30. 27:1, 31. 27:6, 32. 27:76, 33. 27:92, 34. 28:85, 35. 30:58, 36. 34:31, 37. 36:2, 38. 36:69, 39. 38:1, 40. 39:27, 41. 41:26, 42. 43:31, 43. 46:29, 44. 47:24, 45. 50:1, 46. 50:45, 47. 54:17, 48. 54:22, 49. 54:32, 50. 54:40, 51. 55:2, 52. 56:77, 53. 59:21, 54. 73:4, 55. 73:20, 56. 76:23, 57. 84:21, 58. 85:21.
The above total number of entries (58) might lead one to conclude that the pattern of 57 (or, for that matter, that of 19) had been broken at least in the occurrence of the word “Quran” in its Arabic form with the abjad (gematrical) value of 351. But a logical analysis of each of the above 58 entries will reveal that in exactly 57 of the entries, the word refers to the Quran as Muslims understand it to be, that is, as a revealed book or Divine Scripture sent down to mankind through Prophet Muhammad. Furthermore, in one entry, namely 10:15 (No. 7 in the above list), the word does not, unlike the other 57 entries, refer to the Quran as we know it but refers to something else—a non-existent Quran. The pertinent verse is as follows:
And when our clear revelations are recited to them, those who do not expect to meet us say: “Bring a Quran other than this, or change it!”… (10:15).
Clearly, the word “Quran” in the above verse refers to another Quran which, in effect, was non-existent. The Arabic term qur’anin ghair used in the above verse clearly means “another quran” or “a quran different from this Quran.” That other quran does not exist, and should not be counted with the other 57 entries. But even if it is added to the 57 entries, since it does not exist, the final result will still be 57!
In modern mathematical logic and one of its forerunners, Boolean Algebra, as well as modern arithmetic, what is non-existent is normally called a Null Class (NC). And when the Null Class is added to any given class or a given number, the result is always the given class or original number. For example, 57+NC = 57. Also, there is nothing in common between an existing number and the Null Class. For example, 57xNC = NC. Thus, the Arabic word “Quran” when referring to the Quran as Divine Revelation or Sacred Scripture, occurs exactly 57 times in the text of the Quran.
In the Quran, the word “majid” translated to “glorious” is used once (11:73) as a quality of God and twice (50:1 and 85:21) as an attribute of the Quran. Now, when the abjad (gematrical) or ancient numerical system of the Arabs is applied to the Arabic word “ ” (majid), the total adds up to 57 => meem -> 40 + Jeem -> 3 + yaa ->10 + dal -> 4 = 57 => 19×3.
That the letter ‘qaf’ is an initial (actually the only initial) in the first verse of chapter 50, that this first verse describes the Quran as majid (which has a value of exactly 57 in the ancient abjad numerical system), and that letter qaf codes the word “Quran”.
As is well known, the Quran has 114 (19×6) chapters (suras) and 29 of them have certain initials (muqatta’at) in their starting verses. These initials are letters of the Arabic alphabet. Among these 29 chapters with initials, two and only two, namely, chapters 42 and 50, contain the Arabic letter qaf (Q) as an initial. In each of these two chapters, the letter qaf occurs exactly 57 (19×3) times, in spite of the additional fact that chapter 42 is longer than chapter 50. Muslim tradition has it that the letter qaf, used as an initial in the two chapters, stands for the word “Quran”. Readers will easily conclude that the count of the letter qaf in both qaf-initialed chapters results in 114 (19×6) qafs, a number corresponding to the total number of chapters in the Quran.
That the number 57 is intimately connected with the Quran is clearly revealed in the first verse of chapter 50, one of the qaf initialed chapters.
Hence, in terms of Qaf, Quran and Glorious, the verse (50:1) reveals the following symmetry:
57 —– 57 —– 57
God assures us that His guidance is the true guidance and He assigns the Quran to be our guidance 19 times in the Quran for our salvation:
1. 2:2; 2. 2:97; 3. 2:159; 4. 2:185; 5. 3:138; 6. 6:157; 7. 7:52; 8. 7:203; 9. 10:57; 10. 12:111; 11. 16:64; 12. 16:89; 13. 16:102; 14. 27:2; 15. 27:77; 16. 31:3; 17. 41:44; 18. 45:11 and 19. 45:20.
God is not only the author but also the teacher of the Quran, Who has referred it to be our guidance 19 times in the Quran. Hence, in terms of God, teacher and guidance, the above phrase (2:120, 6:71) reveals the following symmetry:
19 —– 19 —– 19
Conclusion
God is the author as well as the teacher of the Quran. He teaches us through His revelation what we need to lead a righteous life and His teachings are complete, perfect and detailed including proofs, facts and measures. So, we all are students of the Quran including the prophet through whom we received it, and we may share with others if we have any knowledge about it. From a logical analysis it is concluded that there are 57 occurrences of the word “Quran” in the Quran in its Arabic form with the abjad (gematrical) value of 351. Hence, the symmetries found in certain verses/phrases precisely convince us to believe that God is One having another numeric attribute, “19”, and we must uphold only one source as our guidance, which is the Quran while upholding any source beside it reflects disbelief in the Quran as well as in God. Now, our reflection on the proofs and measures could help us make appropriate decisions to prepare us for the Day of Judgment.
Peaceful Friday, salaam and God bless.
