Details of instances of nazala

There are 6 instances of nazala in the verb form I meaning “to descend” found in 6 verses across 5 surahs in the Quran are detailed out below:

[17:105] And with the truth we have sent down it (Quran) and with the truth it has descended (wa-bil-haqqi nazala), and we have not sent you (Muhammad) except a bearer of good news and a warner.

[26:193] The trustworthy Spirit (Gabriel) has descended with it (Quran) (nazala bihi al-ruuhu al-ameenu).

[34:2] He knows what penetrates in the earth and what comes out from it, and what descends from the sky (wa-maa yanzilu mina al-samaai) and what ascends in it. And He is the Merciful, the Forgiving.

[37:177] So when it descends in their territory (fa-idhaa nazala bi-saahatihim), then it has been an evil morning for those who are warned.

[57:4] He is the One who has created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He has established on the Throne. He knows what penetrates in the earth and what comes out from it, and what descends from the sky (wa-maa yanzilu mina al-samaai) and what ascends in it, and He is with you wherever you have been. And God is Seer of what you do.

[57:16] Does not it come time for those who have believed to become humble of their hearts for God’s reminder, and what has descended of the truth (wa-maa nazala mina al-haqqi)? And they would not be like those who have given the scripture before, that it has prolonged for them the term, so their hearts had become hardened and many of them were disobedient.

[2:23] And if you have been in doubt of what we have sent down to our servant (mimmaa nazzalnaa `alaa `abdinaa), then produce of a surah like of it and call upon your witnesses other than God, if you have been truthful ones.

[2:90] It has been evil what they have sold their souls with it that they disbelieve in what God has sent  down in hesitance that God sends down of His grace (yunazzila allahu min fadlihi) upon whomever He wills from His servants. So they have drawn of wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers there is a humiliating punishment.

[2:97] Say, “Whoever has been enemy to Gabriel, then indeed, he has brought down it (Quran) onto your heart (Muhammad) by permission of God (fa-innahu nazzalahu `alaa qal’bika bi-idh’ni allahi) confirming that which was before of it, and a guidance and good news for the believers.”

[2:105] Neither those who have disbelieved from the people of the scripture, nor those who associate partners (with God) would like that any good is sent down to you from your Lord (yunazzila `alaykum min khayrin min rabbikum), while God chooses with His mercy whomever He wills. And God is Possessor of the great bounty.

[2:176] That is of that God has sent down the scripture with the truth (dhaalika bi-anna allaha nazzala al-kitaaba bil-haqqi), and those who have disputed in the scripture are surely in strong opposition.

[3:3] He has sent down to you (Muhammad) the scripture (Quran) with the truth (nazzala `alayka  al-kitaaba) bil-haqqi) confirming that which was before of it (Gospel), and He has sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

[3:93] All the food has been lawful for the Children of Israel, except what Israel has made unlawful for himself before that the Torah was sent down (min qabli an tunazzila al-tawraatu). Say, “Come with the Torah, then recite it, if you have been truthful ones.”

[3:151] We will throw the terror into hearts of those who have disbelieved because of that they have associated partners with God to whom He does not send down any authority with it (maa lam yunazzila bihi sul’taanan), their abode is the Fire and it has been a miserable abode of the wrongdoers.

[4:47] O you who have been given the scripture, you shall believe in what we have sent down confirming that which is with yourselves from before (aaminuu bimaa nazzalnaa musaddiqan limaa ma`akum min qabli), that we wipe out faces that we turn them on their backs, or we curse them as that we had cursed companions of the Sabbath. And it has been God’s command to be executed.

[4:136] O you who have believed, you shall believe in God and His messenger, and the scripture which He has sent down to His messenger (wal-kitaabi alladhee nazzala `alaa rasuulihi) and the scripture which He has sent down from before. And whoever disbelieves in God, and His angels, and His scriptures, and His messengers, and the Last Day, then certainly, he has strayed far away straying.

[4:140] And certainly, He has sent down to you in the scripture (wa-qad nazzala `alaykum fee al-kitaabi) that when you hear God’s revelations to disbelieve in them and is ridiculed with them, then do not sit with them until they engage in discussion other than of it; indeed, you then be like of them. Indeed, God will gather the disbelievers and the hypocrites all together in Hell.

[4:153] The people of the scripture ask you (Muhammad) that you bring down to them a scripture from the heaven (tunazzila `alayhim kitaaban mina al-samaai). Then certainly, they had asked Moses greater than that as they said, “Show us God in manifestation.” So, the lightning had struck them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf (for their worship) after what had come to them the clear proofs. Then we had forgiven them for that. And we had given Moses a clear authority.

[5:101] O you who have believed, do not ask about matters if it is made clear to you, it may distress you; and if you ask about it when the Quran is being sent down (heena yunazzalu al-qur’aanu), it would be made clear to you. God has pardoned from it and God is Forgiving, Forbearing.

[5:112] When the disciples said, “O Jesus, son of Mary, Does your Lord be able to send down to us a feast from the heaven (hal yastatee`u rabbuka an yunazzila `alaynaa maaidatan mina al-samaai)?” He said, “You shall fear God, if you have been believers.”

[6:7] And if we had sent down to you (Muhammad) a scripture in a parchment (wa-law nazzalnaa `alayka kitaaban fee qir’taasin), and they would have touched it with their hands, surely would have said those who have disbelieved, “This is not but a clever magic.”

[6:37] They said, “Why has not been sent down a sign (miracle) to him (Muhammad) from his Lord (lawlaa nuzzila `alayhi aayatun min rabbihim)?” Say, “Indeed, God has been powerful over to send down a sign (inna allahu qaadirun `alaa an yunazzila aayatan) , but most of them do not know.”

[6:81] “How could I fear what you have associated (with God), while you do not fear that you have associated partner with God what He did not send down any authority with it to you (maa law yunazzil bihi `alaykum sul’taanan? So, which of the two parties has more right of the security, if you have done to know?”

[6:111] And if that we had sent down the angels to them (wa-law annanaa nazzalnaa ilayhimu al-malaaikata) and the dead had spoken to them and we had gathered before them everything face to face, they would not have believed except that God wills, but most of them to be ignorant.

[7:33] Say, “My Lord has only forbidden the evil deeds what has appeared from it and what has concealed, and the sin, and the oppression without the justice, and that you associate with God what He does not send down any authority with it (maa law yunazzil bihi sul’taanan), and that you say about God what you do not know.”

[7:71] He said, “Certainly has fallen curse and anger upon you from your Lord. Do you argue with me about names you have named them – you and your forefathers, God has not sent down any authority to them (maa nazzala allahu bihaa min sul’taanin? Then wait;  indeed, I am with you among the waiters.”

[7:196] Indeed, my Protector is God, the One who has sent down the scripture (inna waliyyiya allahu alladhee nazzala al-kitaaba), and He protects the righteous.

[8:11]  When He covers you with the sleep, is a peace from Him; and He sends down water upon you from the sky (wa-yunazzilu `alaykum mina al-samaai maa-an) that He may purify you with it; and He takes away from you the Satan’s affliction and that He may strengthen your hearts and may make firm your feet with it.

[9:64] The hypocrites fear that a sura may be sent down about them to inform them of what is in their hearts (tunazzala `alayhim suuratun tunabbiuhum bimaa fee quluubihim). Say, “Mock; indeed, God may be bringing forth what you are fearing.”

[15:6] And they said, “O you whom the reminder has been sent down to him (yaa-ayyuhaa alladhee nuzzila `alayhi al-dhik’ru); indeed, you are surely a mad.

[15:8] We do not send down the angels except with the truth (maa nunazzilu al-malaaikata illaa bil-haqqi); and they have not done then any respite.

[15:9] Indeed, we have sent down the reminder (innaa nahnu nazzalnaa al-dhik’ra); and indeed, we are surely protectors of it.

[15:21] And there is not a thing except its treasures are with us, and we do not send down it except in an exact measure (wa-maa nunazziluhu illaa bi-qadarin ma`luumin).

[16:2] He sends down the angels with the Spirit (revelation) with His command (yunazzilu al-malaaikata bil-ruuhi min amrihi) to whomever He wills from His servants that you shall warn that there is no god except I. So, you shall fear Me.

[16:44] With the clear proofs and the psalms. And we have sent down to you (Muhammad) the reminder that you may make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them (maa nuzzila ilayhim) and that they may reflect.

[16:89] And a day we will raise in every community a witness upon them from themselves, and we will bring of you (Muhammad) as a witness of these people. And we have sent down to you (Muhammad) a scripture (wa-nazzalnaa `alayka al-kitaaba) – a clarification of everything, and a guidance, and mercy, and good news for the Submitters.

[16:101] And when we have substituted a revelation in place of another revelation, and God is Knower of what He sends down (wa-allahu a`lamu bimaa yunazzilu), they said, “You are only a fabricator.” Nay, most of them do not know.

[16:102] Say, “The Holy Spirit has brought down it (Quran) from your Lord with the truth (nazzalahu ruuhu al-qudusi min rabbika bil-haqqi) that He (God) may strengthen those who have believed, and is a guidance and good news for the Submitters.”

[17:82] And we send down from the Quran is that which is healing and mercy for the believers (wa-nunazzilu mina al-qur’aani maa huwa shifaaun wa-rahmatun lil’mumineena), and it does not increase except wickedness of the wrongdoers.

[17:93] Or there might be a luxurious house for you (Muhammad), or you may ascend to the sky, and we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a scripture (hattaa tunazzila `alaynaa kitaaban) we could read it. Say, “Glory be to my Lord, have I been except a human messenger?”

[17:95] Say, “If there had been the angels in the earth to walk in secure, surely, we would have sent down to them an angel messenger from the heaven (la’nazzalnaa `alayhim mina al-samaai malakan rasuulan).”

[17:106] And a Quran we have divided it that you may recite it over the people over a period of time, while we have sent down it a gradual sending down (wa-nazzalnaahu tanzeelan).

[20:80] O Children of Israel, we had delivered you from your enemy, and we had made a covenant with you on the right side of Mount Sinai, and we had sent down to you the manna and the quail (wa-nazzalnaa `alaykumu al-mana wal-salwaa).

[22:71] And they worship other than God, which He does not send down any authority to it (maa lam yunazzil bihi sul’taanan), and what there has not been for them any knowledge of it. And there is no helper for the wrongdoers.

[24:43] Do you not see that God drives cloud, then He gathers it together, then He makes it a mass, then you see the rain to come forth from its midst? And He sends down from the sky like mountains of hail within it (wa-yunazzilu mina al-samaai min jabaalin feehaa min baradin), then He strikes whomever He wills, and diverts it from whomever He wills. He almost does to take away of the sight from a flesh of its lightning.

[25:1] Blessed is the One who has sent down the statute book to His servant (tabaaraka alladhee nazzala al-fur’qaana `alaa `abdihi) that he may be a warner for the people of the world.

[25:25] A day the sky will break down with the cloud, and the angels will be sent down in successive sending down (wa-nuzzila al-malaaikatu tanzeelan).

[25:32] Those who have disbelieved said, “Why has not been sent down to him (Muhammad) the Quran all at once (lawlaa nuzzila `alayhi al-qur’aana jum’latan waahidatin)?” Thus that we may strengthen your heart with it and we have recited it a gradual recitation.

[26:4] If we will, we can send down to them from the sky a sign (nunazzil `alayhim mina al-samaai aayatan) that their necks would bend to it in humility.

[26:198] And if we had sent down it (Quran) to any non-Arabian (wa-law nazzalnaahu `alaa ba’di al-a`jameena).

[29:63] And surely, if you had asked them, “Who has sent down water from the sky (man nazzala mina the samaai maa-an) and has given life to the earth with it after its death?” Surely, they would say, “God.” Say, “All praise to God.” But most of them do not understand.

[30:24] And of His signs He shows you the lightning as fear and hope, while He sends down water from the sky (wa-yunazzilu mina the samaai maa-an)  and has given life to the earth with it after its death. Indeed, in that surely, there are signs for a people to use intellect.

[30:49] Even though they have been before that it was sent down on them (yunazzala `alayhim), of its before they were surely despaired ones.

[31:34] Indeed God, with Him is a knowledge of the Hour; and He sends down the rain (wa-yunazzilu al-ghaytha) and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in which land it will die. Indeed, God is Knower, Cognizant.

[39:23] God has sent down a scripture of the best Hadith being consistent to each other (allahu nazzala ahsana al-hadeethi kitaaban mutashaabihan mathaaniya). The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (Quran), then their skins and their hearts soften up to God’s message. That is God’s guidance; He guides with it (Quran) whomever He wills, and whomever God lets go astray, then there is no guide for him.

[40:13] He is the One who shows you His signs and sends down for you provision from the sky (wa-yunazzilu lakum mina al-samaai riz’qan). And none can take heed except whoever turns (to Him).

[42:27] And if God had increased the provision for His servants, surely they would have transgressed in the earth; but He sends down in exact measure what He wills (wa-laa-kin yunazzilu bi-qadarin maa yashaau). Indeed, He is Cognizant, Seer of His servants.

[42:28] And He is the One who sends down the rain (wa-huwa alladhee yunazzilu al-ghaytha) after that they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.

[43:11] And the One who has sent down water from the sky in exact measure (wa-alladhee nazzala mina al-samaai maa-an), then we have revived a dead land with it. Thus that you will be brought forth.

[43:31] And they said, “Why has not been sent down this – the Quran to any man from the two great towns (Makka or Yathrib) (lawlaa nuzzila haadhaa al-qur’aanu rajulun mina al-qaryatayni `azeemin)?”

[47:2] And those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, and have believed in what has been sent down to Muhammad (wa-aamanuu bimaa nuzzila `alaa muhammadun) and it is the truth from their Lord, He has removed their evil deeds from them and has improved their condition.

[47:20] Those who have believed say, “Why has not been sent down a surah (lawlaa nuzzilat suuratun?” Then when a precise surah has been sent down and the fighting has been mentioned in it, you have seen those who have a disease in their hearts looking at you – a look of the fainting on him from the death. So woe to them!.

[47:26] That is of that they said to those who have hated what God has sent down (lilladheena karihuu maa nazzala allahu), “We will obey you in part of the matter.” And God knows their conspiracy.

[50:9] And we have sent down a blessed water from the sky (wa-nazzalnaa mina al-samaai maa-an mubaarakan), then we have made to grow with it gardens and grains for the harvest.

[57:9] He is the One who sends down clear revelations to His servant (Muhammad) (huwa alladhee yunazzilu `alaa `ab’dihi aayaatin bayyinaatin) that He may bring you out of the darkness into the light. And indeed, God is with you surely Kind, Merciful.

[67:9] They said , “Yes, certainly a warner had come to us, but we had denied and said, “God has not sent down anything (maa nazzala allahu min shayin). You are not but in astray.””

[76:23] Indeed, we have sent down the Quran to you (Muhammad) a gradual sending down (innaa nahnu nazzalnaa `alayka al-qur’aana tanzeelan).

6 instances of nazala found in 6 verses and 62 instances of nazzala found in 61 verses in the Quran confirm that God is a Protector of the righteous and has sent down scripture/Quran with clarification of everything, and a guidance, and mercy, and good news to bring them out of the darkness into the light, while the Holy Spirit (Gabriel) has brought it down to the prophet to recite it to the people over a period of time, which is as true as He has sent down the rain from the sky for our provision not to have any doubt in our hearts. Thus, those who have followed it are the believers having the opportunity to be the righteous accepting it a scripture of the best hadith being consistent to each other, but those who have not followed it or have denied in it will acknowledge on a day when they meet their Lord that they were in astray even they had made efforts to please Him being allies to the majority.
