The role of heart from the spiritual perspective

[32:9] Then He shaped him (Adam), and blew into him from His spirit. And He gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the hearts; rarely are you appreciative.

The above verse teaches that God has designed our body and placed soul into it, and has given three faculties – hearing, eyesight and heart that we must use to be appreciative to Him. Hence, we are not only a physical body but also a spiritual source to nourish the spark of life within the body. The heart inside the body, that pumps blood to all organs, tissues and cells including itself for constant supply of oxygen and nutrient for our optimum health is the central and vital organ of the body while the absence of soul from our body causes death to us, which confirms the existence of soul in the body. Thus, the soul is a driving force in the volatile form, which resides in the body but not an integral part of it while we need to nourish it for its optimum health being the real being from the perspective of our life in the Hereafter if we are really certain about it. However, let us review the verses having 148 instances of heart which has two Arabic counterparts: “Qulb” (132) and “Fuada” (16) in the Quran to understand the role of heart from the references as mentioned:

[2:7] God has sealed their hearts and their hearing and has veiled their vision, and for them there is a severe retribution.
[2:10] There is a disease in their hearts. So God has increased their disease, and for them there is a painful retribution as they used to lie.
[2:74] Then your hearts were hardened after that, so they were like stones or even harder; but even from the stones there are rivers that burst forth, or from them are those that crack so that the water comes forth, or from them are what fall from the fear of God; God is not unaware of what you do.
[2:88] And they said, “Our hearts are covered!” No, God has cursed them for their disbelief, so very little what they believe
[2:93] And we made a covenant with you and we raised the mount above you, “Hold what we have given you with firmness, and listen.” They said, “We hear, but we disobey.” Their hearts were made filled with the love for the calf because of their disbelief. Say, “Evil is what your faith commands you with it, if you are believers.”
[2:97] Say, “Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel, then you know that he has brought down this (Quran) into your heart, in accordance with God’s will, confirming what was before it, and a guidance and good news for the believers.”
[2:118] And those who do not know said, “If only God would speak to us, or a sign would come to us!” It is the same that the people before them have said; their hearts are similar. Indeed, we have made the revelations clear for a people who certainly believe.
[2:204] And among the people who please you with his word about the worldly life, and calls God to witness on what is in his heart, he is the most ardent opponent.
[2:225] God will not count your statement what is unintentional in your oaths but He will count what has entered your hearts. God is Forgiving, Clement.
[2:260] And when Abraham said, “My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead.” He said, “Do you not believe?” He said, “Yes, but I wish to reassure my heart.” He said, “Have four birds and train them to come to you; then place a piece of each bird on top of a hill; then call them to you, they will come to you in a hurry. And know that God is Almighty, Most Wise.”
[2:283] And if you are traveling or do not find a scribe, then a pledge of collateral. If you trust each other then let the one who was entrusted deliver his trust, and let him be aware of God, and do not hold back the testimony. And whoever holds it back, then he has sinned in his heart, and God is aware of what you do.

[3:7] He is the One who sent down to you the scripture, of it there are straightforward verses – they are the essence of the scripture and some are allegorical. As for those who have perversity in their hearts, they will follow what is allegorical of it being confused as well as deriving an interpretation of it. But none know its interpretation except God and those who are well founded in knowledge. They say: “We believe in it, all is from our Lord.” And none will take heed except the people of understanding.
[3:8] “Our Lord, do not make our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us from You a mercy; You are the Grantor.”
[3:103] You shall hold fast to the rope of God, all of you, and do not be divided. Remember God’s blessing upon you when you were enemies and He united your hearts, then you became brethren with His blessing. You were on the brink of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. It is thus that God makes clear His revelations for you, so that you may be guided.
[3:126] And God has not made this except good news for you, and to reassure your hearts with it. Victory comes only from God, the Almighty, the Wise.
[3:151] We will throw terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, because they associate partners with God to whom He has not sent down any authority of it. And their habitation is the Fire, and a miserable abode of the wicked.
[3:154] Then after the distress He sent down to you peace, a slumber overcoming a party of you while the other party was worried about themselves thinking about God other the truth, the thoughts of ignorance. They say, “ Is there anything from the matter?” Say, “Indeed, everything of the matter is from God.” They hide in themselves what they do not reveal to you. They say, “If anything in the matter from us, none of us would have been killed here. Say, “If you were inside your own homes, then the ones who have been decreed death would have gone forth to their resting place.”  And God will test what is in your chests and bring out what is in your hearts. God is aware of what is in the chests.
[3:156] O you who believe, do not be like those who disbelieved, and they said to their brothers when they were traveling in the land or they were in war, “If they were here with us they would not have died nor been killed.” God makes that regret in their hearts. And God gives life as well as causes death. And God is Seer of everything you do.
[3:159] It was mercy from God that you had been compassionate with them. If you had been rude and harsh at the heart, they would have dispersed from you; so pardon them and ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter; but when you are convinced, then put trust in God; God loves those who put trust in Him.
[3:167] And that He might know those who are hypocrites; and it was said to them, “Come, fight in the cause of God, or defend.” They said, “If we knew fighting, we would have followed you.” They were, that day closer to disbelief than those to the belief. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and God is aware of what they conceal.

[4:63] Those are the ones whom God knows what is in their hearts, so turn away from them and advise them, and speak to them effective word for themselves.
[4:155] So, for the breaking of their covenant, and their disbelief in the signs of God, and their killing of the prophets without justice, and their saying: “Our hearts are covered.” Indeed, God has put a seal on their hearts because of their disbelief; so they do not believe, except for a few.

[5:13] So, because of breaking of their covenant, we have cursed them, and made their hearts to become hardened; they take the words out of context; and they forgot much of what they were reminded of. And you will still discover betrayal in them except for a few; so pardon them and overlook; God loves the righteous.
[5:41] O you messenger, do not be saddened by those who hasten to disbelieve among those who say, “We believe,” with their mouths, while their hearts do not believe.  And from among the Jews, there are those who listened to lies; they listened to other people who have not come to you; they distort the words from their context, and they say: “If you are given this, then take it, but if you are given anything different, then beware!” And whoever God wants to test, then you will not have any power for him against God. These are the ones whose hearts God does not want to cleanse; in this world they will have humiliation, and in the Hereafter they will have a great retribution.
[5:52] And you will see those who have disease in their hearts hasten to them, saying, “We fear that a disaster will befall us.” Perhaps God will bring a victory or a decree from Himself, then they will become regretful over what they had kept hidden within themselves.
[5:113] They said, “We wish that we may eat from it, and our hearts become satisfied, and we know that you have spoken us the truth and we can be witnesses over it.”

[6:25] And of them are those who listen to you, but we have placed coverings on their hearts lest they understand it, and deafness in their ears. And if they see every sign, they will not believe in it, even when they come to you and argue with you, those who disbelieved say, “These are tales from the past.”
[6:43] Then why did they not implore when our retribution came to them? But their hearts were hardened, and the devil adorned for them what they used to do.
[6:46] Say: “Do you see that if God were to take away your hearing and your eyesight, and He seals your hearts; which god besides God can bring it to you?” Look how we cite the revelations, but then they turn away.

[7:100] Does it not guide those who have inherited the earth after them that if we willed, we could punish them for their sins, and we could seal their hearts, so they would not hear?
[7:101] These are the towns whose stories we narrate to you: their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in what they had denied before. It is such that God seals the hearts of the disbelievers.
[7:179] We have created many of jinns and humans for Hell. They have hearts with which they do not understand, have eyes with which they do not see, and have ears with which they do not hear. They are like the animals; no, they are even more astray. These are the heedless ones.

[8:2] The true believers are those whose hearts reverence when God is mentioned and they strengthen their faith when His revelations are recited to them , and they put trust in their Lord.
[8:10] And God did not do this except to give you good news, and that your hearts may be assured by it. And victory comes only from God; God is Almighty, Most Wise.
[8:11] When He made you sleep to give you a peace from Him, and He sent down water from the sky to cleanse you with it. And protect you from the evil of the devil, and strengthen your hearts and make your feet firm with it.
[8:12] When your Lord inspired the angels: “I am with you; so support those who believed. I will throw terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved. So strike above the necks, and strike them even every finger.”
[8:24] O you who believe, respond to God and the messenger when he calls you to what gives you life . And know that God comes between a person and your heart, and that to Him you will be gathered.
[8:49] The hypocrites and those who have a disease in their hearts said, “These people have been deceived by their religion.” But whoever puts his trust in God, then God is Almighty, Most Wise.
[8:63] He has put affection between their hearts. If you spent all what is in the earth, you could not put affection between their hearts. But God has put affection between them. He is Almighty, Most Wise.
[8:70] O prophet, say to the captives whom you hold, “If God knows any good in your hearts, He will give you better than what He took from you, and He will forgive you. God is Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

[9:8] How can they prevail over you when they do not regard any ties of kinship with you nor do they have any covenant of protection? They make you happy with their mouths while their hearts deny, and most of them are wicked.
[9:15] And remove the anger from their hearts. God redeems whomever He wills. God is Omniscient, Most Wise.
[9:45] Those who ask you leave do not believe in God and the Last Day, and their hearts are full of doubts, so their doubts cause them to waver.
[9:60] The charities are for the poor, the needy, the workers who collect them, the ones of their hearts are inclined, and in freeing the slaves, who are in debt, in the cause of God, and the wayfarer – an obligation from God. God is Omniscient, Most Wise.
[9:64] The hypocrites fear lest a sura will be revealed informing them of what is in their hearts. Say, “Mock, indeed, God will bring out what you fear.”
[9:77] So, He has placed hypocrisy in their hearts, until the day when they will meet Him because they broke what they promised God, and because they used to lie.
[9:87] They were pleased to be with those who stay behind, and their hearts were sealed, so they do not understand.
[9:93] The blame is on those who ask your permission while they were rich. They were pleased to be with those who stay behind and God has sealed their hearts, so they do not know.
[9:110] The foundation they built will not cease to be a disease in their hearts, until their hearts are severed. God is Omniscient, Most Wise.
[9:117] God has pardoned the prophet, and the immigrants and the supporters that followed him during the difficult times, even though the hearts of some of them nearly deviated, but then He pardoned them. He is towards them Compassionate, Merciful.
[9:125] And as for those who have a disease in their hearts, it only increased wickedness to their wickedness, and they died as disbelievers.
[9:127] Whenever a sura is revealed, they look at one another: “Does anyone see you?”  Then they turn away. God turns away their hearts, for they are a people who do not comprehend.

[10:74] Then after him we sent messengers to their people, and they came to them with clear proofs. But they were not to believe in what they had denied before. As such, we seal the hearts of the transgressors.
[10:88] And Moses said, “Our Lord, you have given Pharaoh and his leaders luxuries and wealth in the life of the world. Our Lord, they misguide from Your path. Our Lord, destroy their wealth, and harden their hearts so they will not believe until they see the painful retribution.”

[13:28] Those who believe and their hearts rejoice with a reminder of God, the hearts cannot rejoice except with a reminder of God.

[15:12] As such, we let it enter into the hearts of the guilty.

[16:22] Your god is one god. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are denying, and they are arrogant.
[16:106] Whoever disbelieves in God, after he has believed except the one who is forced while his heart is still content with belief, but the one who opens his chest to disbelief, then they will have a wrath from God and they will have a great retribution.
[16:108] Those are the ones whom God has sealed their hearts, and their hearing, and their sight, and those are the heedless ones.

[17:46] We have placed coverings around their hearts lest they understand it and deafness in their ears. And when you mention your Lord with the Quran alone, they turn on their backs in aversion.

[18:14] We strengthened their hearts when they stood up and said: “Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We will never call on any other god beside Him. If we have called, then we would be great wicked.
[18:28] And be patient on yourself with those who call their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His pleasure. Do not turn your eyes away from them seeking the adornment of the life of the world, and do not obey one whom we have made his heart heedless to our reminder as he follows his own desires as well as his affair exceeds limits.
[18:57] Who is more wicked than the one who is reminded with his Lord’s revelations but he turns away from them, forgetting what he has with him. Indeed, we have placed veils on their hearts lest they understand it, and deafness in their ears, and if you invite them to the guidance, they will never ever be guided.
[21:3] Their hearts are heedless. And those who have wronged confer secretly: “Is he not just a human being like you? So, would you accept the magic while you see?”

[22:32] That, and whoever honors the rituals decreed by God, then it is from righteousness of the hearts.
[22:35] Those who, when God is mentioned, their hearts tremble, and they are patient to what befalls them, and they observe the Contact Prayer, and spend of what we have provided them.
[22:46] Have they not roamed the earth, then they have hearts with which to understand or ears with which to hear? In fact, it is not the eyes which is blind but it is the hearts which is blind inside the chests.
[22:53] That He may make what the devil has cast as a test for those who have a disease in their hearts and hardening of their hearts. And the wicked are gone far in opposition.
[22:54] And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, then they believe in it, and their hearts will readily accept it. Indeed, God is the  guide of those who believe to a straight path.

[23:60] And those who give what they give while their hearts are full of reverence that they will return to their Lord.
[23:63] No, their hearts are confused in this. And they have works other than this they do.
[24:37] Men who are not distracted by trade and sale from the remembrance of God, observing the Contact Prayer, and giving the Obligatory Charity. They fear a day when the hearts and sight will be horrified.
[24:50] Is there a disease in their hearts or do they doubt or do they fear that God and His messenger would be unjust to them? No, they are those who are the wicked.

[26:89] Except he who comes to God with a sound heart.
[26:194] Into your heart, that you may be one of the warners.
[26:200] As such, we have inserted it into the hearts of the guilty.

[28:10] And the heart of Moses’s mother became anxious that she almost disclosed his identity. But we strengthened her heart so that she would be a believer.

[30:59] As such, God seals the hearts of those who do not know.

[33:4] God has not made any man with two hearts in his chest, nor has He made your wives whom you estrange them to be your mothers, nor has He made your adopted sons to be your sons that you are saying by your mouths. And God speaks the truth and He guides to the path.
[33:5] Call them by their fathers, it is more just with God. But if you do not know their fathers, then, as your brethren in the religion and your friends. And there is no blame on you if you make a mistake in this matter but what your hearts intend. God is Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[33:10] When they came from above you and from beneath you; and when the eyes were terrified and the hearts reached the throats, and you harbored doubts about God.
[33:12] And when the hypocrites and those who have a disease in their hearts said, “God and His messenger promised us nothing but illusion!”
[33:26] And He brought down those who supported them among the people of the scripture from their secure positions, and He threw terror into their hearts. Some of them you killed, and some you took captive.
[33:32] O wives of the prophet, you are not like any other women. If you are righteous, then do not speak too softly, lest he who with a disease in his heart may move with desire, and you shall speak in an appropriate manner.
[33:51] You may defer whomever you will of them, and you may bring closer to you whomever you will. And whoever you desire of those whom you have set aside, then there is no blame upon you. Such is more appropriate that they may be comforted and not grieve, and may all of them be pleased with what you have given them. God knows what is in your hearts. God is Omniscient, Clement.
[33:53] O you who believe, do not enter the prophet’s homes except that you are invited for a meal, without awaiting its preparation.  But when you are invited, you may enter, and when you finish eating, you shall leave, without staying for conversation. This used to hurt the prophet, and he was shy to tell you. But God is not shy of the truth. And when you are to ask them for anything, then ask them from behind a barrier. This is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you to annoy the messenger of God, nor that you should marry his wives after him.  That, indeed would be a gross offense in the sight of God.
[33:60] If the hypocrites, and those with disease in their hearts and those who spread lies in the city do not refrain, then we will let you overpower them, then they will not be able to remain as your neighbors except for a short while.

[34:23] Nor will the intercession with Him be any help except for whom He has permitted for him. Until when the fear has subsided from their hearts, they ask: “What did your Lord say?” They will say: “The truth!” And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

[37:84] When he came to his Lord with a sound heart.

[39:22] Is he the one whose chest God has opened for submission? Then he is on a light from his Lord. Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened from remembering God. They are in far astray.
[39:23] God has revealed the best hadith, a book that is consistent with two paths. The skins of those who reverence their Lord shiver therefrom, then their skins and their hearts soften to the reminder of God. Such is the guidance of God, He guides with it whoever He wills. And whoever God let go astray, then there is no guide for him.
[39:45] And when God Alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion. But when others are mentioned beside Him, they become satisfied.

[40:18] And warn them of the day that is approaching, when the hearts will be at the throats to cause remorse. The transgressors will have no friend nor intercessor to be helped.
[40:35] Those who dispute in the revelations of God without any knowledge, is greatly hateful to God and to those who believe. Thus, God seals the hearts of every arrogant tyrant.

[41:5] And they said, “Our hearts are sealed from what you invite us to and in our ears there is a deafness, and there is a barrier between you and us. So do what you will, and so will we do.”

[42:24] Or do they say: “He has fabricated lies about God!” If God willed, He could have sealed your heart. And God eliminates the falsehood and establishes the truth with His words. He is fully aware of what is in the chests.

[45:23] Have you seen the one who took his desire as his god, and God led him astray, despite his knowledge, and He sealed his hearing and his heart, and He made a veil on his vision? Then who can guide him after God? So will you not take heed?

[47:16] And some of them listen to you, until when they go out from you, they say to those who have been given the knowledge: “What did he just say?” Those are the ones whom God has sealed their hearts, and they followed their desires.
[47:20] Those who believed said: “Why has not a sura been revealed?” But when a precise sura is sent down, and fighting is mentioned in it, you see those who have a disease in their hearts look at you, as if death had already come to them. But obedience is more appropriate for them.
[47:24] Do they then not study the Quran carefully? Or are there locks on their hearts?
[47:29] Or do those who have a disease in their hearts think that God will not bring out their hates?

[48:4] He is the One who places tranquility into the hearts of the believers so that they may add faith to their faith. And to God belongs the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and God is Omniscient, Most Wise.
[48:11] Those who lagged behind of the Arabs will say to you, “Our properties and our families kept us busy, so ask forgiveness for us!” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, “Then who has power for you against God in anything, if He intends any harm for you, or He intends any benefit for you?” No, God is fully aware of what you do.
[48:12] No, you thought that the messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that was deemed pleasant in your hearts, and you had an evil thought; you were a wicked people.
[48:18] God was pleased with the believers who pledged allegiance to you under the tree and He knew what was in their hearts. So, He sent down tranquility upon them, and rewarded them with a near victory.
[48:26] When those who disbelieved had put in their hearts the disdain of the time of ignorance,  then God sent down tranquility upon His messenger and the believers, and directed them to uphold the word of righteousness, and they were well entitled to it and worthy of it. God is fully aware of all things.

[49:3] Surely, those who lower their voices with the messenger of God are the ones whose hearts have been tested by God for righteousness. They have deserved forgiveness and a great recompense.
[49:7] And know that among you is the messenger of God.  If he were to obey you in many matters, you would be in difficulty, but God has endeared the faith to you and has made it pleasing in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to you. Those are the guided ones.
[49:14] The Arabs said, “We believe.” Say, “You have not believed rather you should say, we have submitted, as the belief has not yet entered in your hearts.” If you obey God and His messenger, He will not put any of your works to waste. God is Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[50:33] Who feared the Most Gracious, in the unseen, and came with a purified heart.
[50:37] Indeed, therein is a reminder for whoever has a heart, or he is a hearer and a witness.

[57:16] Is it not time for those who believed to open up their hearts for a reminder of God, and what has come down of the truth? And they should not be like those who were given the scripture before, then the term for them was prolonged but their hearts became hardened and many of them were disobedient.
[57:27] Then we sent our messengers on their footsteps. We sent Jesus, the son of Mary, and we gave him the Injeel, and we placed in the hearts of his followers kindness and mercy. But they invented monasticism which we never decreed for them except for seeking the pleasure of God but they did not observe it with right observance. So we gave those who believed among them their recompense, while many of them were disobedient.

[58:22] You will not find any people who believe in God and the Last Day allying those who oppose God and His messenger, even if they were their parents, or their sons, or their brothers, or their families. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with inspiration from Him, and admits them into gardens with flowing streams wherein they abide forever. God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of God. Most assuredly, God’s party are the winners.

[59:2] He is the One who evicted those who disbelieved among the people of the scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You never thought that they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from God. But then God came to them when they never expected, and threw terror into their hearts. So they destroyed their homes with their own hands and the hands of the believers. Learn from this, O you who possess vision.
[59:10] And those who became after them say, “Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us to the faith, and keep our hearts from having any hatred towards those who believed. Our Lord, You are Compassionate, Most Merciful.”
[59:14] They will not fight you all unless they are in fortified towns, or from behind walls. Their might appears formidable among themselves. You would think that they are united, when in fact their hearts are divided. This is because they are people who do not understand.
[61:5] And when Moses said to his people: “O my people, why do you hurt me, even though you know that I am God’s messenger to you?” But when they deviated, God diverted their hearts. For God does not guide the disobedient.

[63:3] This is because they believed, then disbelieved. Hence, their hearts are blocked; they do not understand.

[64:11] No misfortune strikes except with God’s leave. Anyone who believes in God, He will guide his heart. God is fully aware of all things.

[66:4] If the two of you repent to God, then your hearts have listened. But if you band together against him, then God is his ally, and so are Gabriel and the righteous believers. Also, the Angels are his helpers.
[74:31] We appointed the angels to be guardians of Hell. We assigned their number: (1) to warn the disbelievers, (2) to make certain for those who were given the scripture, (3) to strengthen the faith of those who believe, and (4) to eliminate any doubt from those who were given the scripture and the believers. Those who have disease in their hearts as well as the disbelievers would say, “What did God mean by this allegory?” Thus, God misguides whomever he wills and He guides whomever He wills. None knows your Lord’s soldiers except He. In fact, it is a reminder for the humans.
[79:8] Hearts on that day will be terrified.
[83:14] No, a covering has been placed on their hearts for what they used to earn.
[6:110] And We turn their hearts and their sights, as they did not believe in it the first time; and We leave them wandering in their transgression.
[6:113] And that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter listen to it and they accept it, and they commit what they are committing.

[11:120] And all we relate to you the news of the messengers that we strengthen your heart with it. In this has come to you the truth and a warning and a reminder for the believers.
[14:37] “Our Lord, I have settled part of my family in an uncultivated valley near Your Sacred House, our Lord, that they may observe the Contact Prayer. So let the hearts of the people incline towards them, and provide them with the fruits so that they may be appreciative.
[14:43] They will be racing raising their heads without turning their gaze towards them, and their hearts will be void.

[16:78] And God brought you out of your mothers’ wombs while you knew nothing. And He gave you the hearing, the eyesight and the hearts, so that you may be appreciative.
[17:36] And do not follow what you have no knowledge of it. Indeed, the hearing, the eyesight, and the heart – all those will be asked for it.
[23:78] And He is the One who gave you the hearing, the eyesight and the hearts; rarely are you appreciative.
[25:32] And those who disbelieved said, “Why has not the Quran been revealed to you all at once?” It was as such that we could strengthen your heart with it, and we have recited it a distinct recitation.
[28:10] And the heart of Moses’s mother became anxious that she almost disclosed his identity. But we strengthened her heart so that she would be a believer.

[32:9] Then He shaped him and blew into him from His spirit. And He gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the hearts; rarely are you appreciative.
[46:26] And we had established them in the same way as we established you, and provided them with the hearing, and the eyesight, and the hearts. But their hearing, eyesight, and hearts did not help them at all. This is because they used to disregard God’s revelations, and they were surrounded by what they used to mock!
[53:11] The heart did not make up what it saw.
[67:23] Say, “He is the One who created you, and gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the hearts; rarely are you appreciative.”
[104:7] Which will surround the hearts.

The fact in a nutshell is that health science teaches us the key concept of nourishing our body for optimal health to avoid starvation in this dimension while the scripture (Quran) teaches us the key concept of nourishing our soul for its optimum growth to avoid starvation in another dimension to ensure eternal happiness. We are mortal but not our soul, so we get into another dimension through death leaving our body here. Hence, the ultimate purpose of nourishing our body is to support us physically and mentally to nourish our soul while food of soul is obviously different from that of body.

However, the review indicates that the hearing, the vision and the hearts are given us to use to be appreciative to our Creator. The use of hearing and vision are very straightforward while the role of heart is not. The heart is meant for listening, understanding, believing and strengthening of it to lead a righteous life while biologically these tasks are aligned to the brain broadly covering our behavior, intelligence, mind, feeling etc. Even though, the role of heart is distinct from that of soul but we see an analogous relationship between them in the Quran to understand our spiritual life to be winners.

Peaceful Friday, salaam and God bless.
