We often hear: “Do not eat except the Halal meat” without knowing what is in the Quran, which is a reminder, guidance, healing and mercy for humanity. Thus, those who are doing that are committing horrendous crime making them equals to God. However, there are 39 instances of “حَرَّمَ” (harrama) in the verb form translated to “forbid” or “make unlawful” including an instance of it translated to “make sacred” in 34 verses in the Quran across 14 suras. Below is the detailed of 34 verses having 39 references in 14 suras to better understand what God has forbidden or made unlawful for us to stay in the right path:
Detailed description
[2:173] He has only forbidden for you (harrama `alaykumu) the dead animal, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what has been dedicated to other than God. But whoever is forced out of necessity without being disobedient or transgressor, then there is no sin for him. Indeed, God is Forgiving, Merciful.
[2:275] Those who consume usury, they do not stand except as the one who has been confounded him driven by the devil. That is because they say, trade and usury are the same while God has made trade lawful but has forbidden (wa-harrama) usury. Then whoever has accepted this admonition from his Lord and has refrained, then he may have what has passed, and his case is with God. But whoever returns, those are the people of the Fire, they will abide in it forever.
[3:50] “And confirming what was before me (Jesus) of the Torah, and that I make lawful some of that which was forbidden (alladhee hurrima) for you; and I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so you shall fear God and obey me.”
[3:93] All the food has been lawful for the Children of Israel except what Israel has made unlawful (harrama) upon himself before that the Torah was revealed. Say: “So come with the Torah, then recite it if you have been truthful.”
[4:23] Has been forbidden for you (hurrimat `alaykum) are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father’s sisters, and your mother’s sisters, and brother’s daughters, and sister’s daughters, and your foster mothers who suckled you, and your foster sisters, and the mothers of your wives, and your step-daughters residing in your homes from your wives which you have already consummated the marriage with; if you have not consummated the marriage then there is no sin upon you; and the wives of your sons who are from your seeds, and that you join between two sisters except what has already been done. Indeed, God is Forgiving, Merciful.
[4:160] Then because of wrongdoing of those who were Jews, we made unlawful (harramnaa) good things for them, which were lawful for them; and because of their hindering many from the path of God.
[5:3] Has been forbidden upon you (hurrimat `alaykum) the dead animal, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to other than God; and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and that which has fallen from a height, and that which has been gored, and that which the wild animals have attacked except what has been slaughtered (before it dies), and what has been slaughtered on the alters, and that you divide by the arrows of chance – that are all abominable. Today, those who disbelieved have given up from your religion, so do not fear them, but fear Me. Today, I have perfected your religion for you, and have completed My blessings upon you, and have chosen submission as religion for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not being willful to sin, then God is Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[5:72] Certainly, said those who have disbelieved: “Indeed, God is the Messiah, son of Mary!” while the Messiah said: “O Children of Israel! you shall worship God, my Lord and your Lord.” Surely, anyone whoever associates partners with God, then God has forbidden (harrama allahu) Paradise for him, and his abode is the Fire; and there is no helpers for the wicked.
[5:87] O you who have believed, you should not make unlawful good things (laa-tuharrimoo tayyibaati) what God has made lawful for you, and should not transgress; indeed, God does not like the transgressors.
[5:96] Has been made lawful for you is a game of the sea and its food as provision for you as well as for the travellers but has been made unlawful (wa-hurrima) for you is a game of the land as long as you have been in a state of Ihram (huruman). And you shall fear God to whom you will be gathered.
[6:119] And why should you not eat that on which God’s name has been mentioned, when He has fully detailed to you what has been made forbidden for you (maa harrama `alaykum); except what you were forced to do? Most misguide by their desires without knowledge; your Lord is fully aware of the transgressors.
[6:138] And they said, “These are livestock and crops that are forbidden (hij’run); none can eat them except whomever we will,” by their claim. And forbidden (hurrimat) riding on live stock and livestock on which they do not mention God’s name are invention against Him. He will requite them for what they have invented.
[6:140] Losers are those who have killed their children foolishly, without knowledge, and have forbidden (wa-harramoo) what God haveprovided to them by lying about God. They have strayed and they were not the guided ones.
[6:143] There are eight pairs – of the sheep two, and of the goats two, say, “Are the two males that He has forbidden (harrama), or the two females, or the contents of the wombs of the two females? Inform me what you know, if you are truthful.”
[6:144] of the camels two, and of the cattle two, say, “Are the two males that He has forbidden (harrama), or the two females, or the contents of the wombs of the two females? Were you witnesses when God enjoined you this? Who is more evil than the one who invents a lie against God to mislead the people without knowledge? God does not guide the wicked people.”
[6:146] And for the Jews we have forbidden (harramnaa) all that have claws; and from the cattle and the sheep we have forbidden (harramanaa) to them their fat except what is attached to the back, or entrails, or mixed with bone. That is a punishment for their rebellion, and we are truthful.
[6:148] Those who associate partners will say: “If God willed, we would not have associated partners, nor would have our fathers, nor would we have forbidden (harramnaa) anything.” Those before them lied in the same way, until they tasted our retribution. Say: “Do you have any knowledge to bring out to us? You only follow conjecture, you only guess.”
[6:150] Say: “Bring forth your witnesses who bear witness that God has forbidden this (harrama haadhaa).” If they bear witness, then do not bear witness with them, nor follow the desires of those who deny our revelations, and those who do not believe in the Hereafter; and they make equals with their Lord!
[6:151] Say: “Come let me recite to you what your Lord has forbidden (harrama) for you that you should not associate anything with Him; and be kind to your parents; and do not kill your unborn children for fear of poverty, we provide for you and for them; and do not come near lewdness, which is apparent or concealed; and do not kill the life which has been forbidden (harrama) by God, except for justice. That is what He enjoined you that you may comprehend.”
[7:32] Say: “Who has forbidden nice things (harrama zeenata) that God has produced for His servants and the good things of provision?” Say: “It is for those who believe in the worldly life, being exclusive for them on the day of resurrection.” Thus, we explain the revelations for a people who comprehend.
[7:33] Say, “My Lord has only forbidden (harrama) the evil deeds, be they obvious or hidden, and sins, and oppression without any reason, and that you associate partners with God what He has not sent down any authority with them, and to say about God what you do not know.”
[7:50] And the dwellers of the Fire called on the dwellers of Paradise: “Give us some water, or of what God has provided for you?” They said: “God has forbidden (harramahumma) for the disbelievers.”
[7:157] “Those who follow the messenger, the gentile prophet whom they find written for them in the Torah and the Injeel; he enjoins them to the right, and prevents them from the evil, and he makes lawful for them the good things, and forbids (wayuharrimu) the bad things for them, and he removes their burden on them and the shackles that are upon them. So, those who believe in him, and honor him, and support him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him; those – they are the successful ones.”
[9:29] You shall fight those who do not believe in God or the last day, nor forbid (yuharrimoona) what God and His messenger have forbidden (harrama), nor admit the religion of truth of those who have been given the scripture; until they pay the fine, willingly or unwillingly and they are subdued.
[9:37] Surely, the postponing is a sign of excessive disbelief led astray by it of those who disbelieved. They make it lawful one year and make it unlawful (wa-yuharrimoonahu) (another) year to adjust the count which God has made unlawful (harrama), and making lawful what God has made unlawful (harrama) is their evil works, which are fair-seeming to them. And God does not guide the disbelieving people.
[16:35] And those who associate partners said: “If God willed, we would not have worshiped anything other than Him; neither we nor our fathers; nor would we have forbidden (harramnaa) anything other than Him.” So did those who were before them; then is there any responsibility on the messengers except the clear conveyance?
[16:115] He has only forbidden for you (harrama `alaykumu) the dead animal, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what has been dedicated to other than God. But whoever is forced out of necessity without being disobedient or transgressor, then Indeed, God is Forgiving, Merciful.
[16:118] And for those who are Jews, we have forbidden (harramanaa) what we narrated to you before. We have not wronged them, but they have wronged themselves.

[25:68] And those who do not call on any other god with God, nor do they kill anyone that God has forbidden (harrama) except for the justice, nor do they commit adultery; and whoever does that will receive the punishment.
[27:91] “I (Muhammad) have been commanded that I only worship the Lord of this town, the One who has made it sacred (harramahaa) and to Him belongs all things. And I have been commanded that I become one of the submitters.”
[28:12] And we had forbidden for him (wa-harramnaa `alayhi) of the nursing mothers before. Then she (his sister) said: “Shall I direct you to a family that can nurse him for you, and take good care of him?”
[66:1] O you prophet, why do you forbid (tuharrimu) what God has made lawful for you, seeking to please your wives? And God is Forgiving, Merciful.

Mathematical confirmation
Out of 39 instances of harrama in 34 verses across 14 suras, 37 instances found in 32 verses across 13 suras participate in the mathematical confirmation, and the sum of the relevant sura and verse numbersis a multiple of 19 =>3211 = 19x169 (see the table below for details):
Note: This mathematical interpretation confirms that God is the only One who can make things lawful or unlawful which He has done through His revelations. The instance in 16:35 indicates that those who associate partners with God have forbidden certain things for themselves disregarding what is in the messages sent with the messengers and the instance in 27:91 translated to “sacred” are not included in the mathematical confirmation while the instance in 6:148, which indicates that those who associate partners with God have forbidden certain things for themselves deserve terrible punishment when they meet their Lord is included in the mathematical calculation.
Conclusion
God has detailed out what is forbidden for us. Thus, He has perfected His religion and completed His blessings on humanity mentioning the meat what has been forbidden for us through the revelation of the Quran. The meat what He has forbidden for us is the dead animal, the blood, the meat of pig and what has been dedicated to other than God. But there is no sins for him whoever is forced to eat these without being disobedient or transgressor. He has not forbidden any livestock for us whether it is male or female or what is in its womb. However, what we should do is to mention God’s name to eat upon which what has been made lawful for us.
All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel made unlawful for himself before the Torah was sent down while many good things are forbidden for the Jews because of their wrongdoing. Paradise is forbidden for those who said, “God is the Messiah, son of Mary” while Jesus, the Messiah, son of Mary said to them to worship his Lord and their Lord as well as not to associate partners with Him. He made lawful some of that which was forbidden for the Children of Israel through the revelation of the Injeel given to him, who confirmed the Torah.
God has not forbidden nice things except the evils deeds such as oppression without any reason, associating partners with Him, killing anyone except justice and committing adultery while He has not given to anyone any authority to forbid nice things. Losers are those who are not guided because of killing their children including unborn ones for fear of poverty while God has provided to them. The postponing and adjusting the sacred months is a sign of excessive disbelief which they made lawful one year and then made unlawful another year. The game of the sea has been made lawful but that of the land has been made unlawful in a state of Ihram. He has forbidden marriage with 13 categories of women while He has made trade lawful but has made usury unlawful. Thus, the believers are not to forbid anything what God has made lawful and He does not love the transgressors. Those who forbid anything by God’s name what God has not forbidden will be treated as those who forbid something what God has not forbidden making them equals to their Lord.
The prophet was commanded to worship the Lord of the city, Who has made it sacred being submitter to Him and was warned not to forbid what God has made lawful just to please his wives. The light that sent down with the gentile prophet (Muhammad) makes nice things lawful while makes bad things unlawful to be successful in the Hereafter removing all our burdens and shackles from us. Since God has clearly mentioned in the Quran what is forbidden from the food and meat, we must follow the divine definition of ‘Halal meat’ not the man-made definition of ‘Halal meat’ by those that equals them to our Lord being idol worshiping, which is an unforgiveable sin if it is maintained until death.
Peaceful Friday, salaam and God bless.
