Review instances of ahad and derived forms in the Quran-II

Out of 85 instances, 44 instances of ahad found in 42 verses of 13 surahs are reviewed, and 41 instances of ahad and ih’daa are being reviewed here.

Instances of ahad

Out of 74 instances of ahad, 44 instances are reviewed, and 30 instances found in 30 verses of 17 surahs are detailed out below to better understand their meaning in different contexts:

[19:26] So eat and drink, and cool eye. So if you (Jesus to his mother) see anyone from the human being (fa-imma tarayinna mina al-bashari ahadan), then say, “Indeed me, I (Jesus) have made a vow of silence to the Gracious that I will not speak to any human being today.”

Note: Here is a reference that Jesus spoke just his birth is a sign for the people of the world.

[19:98] And how many of a generation we have destroyed before of them? Do you perceive anyone from them (hal tuhissu minhum min ahadin), or you hear any sound of them?

[23:99] Until when the death has come to one of them (hattaa idhaa jaa-a ahadahumu al-mawtu), he said, “My Lord, send me back.”

[24:6] And those who accuse their spouses and do not have witnesses for them except themselves, then testimony one of them is four testimonies (swearing) by God (fa-shahaadaatin ahadihim arba`u shahaadaatin bi-llahi) that he is surely among the truthful ones.

[24:21] O you who have believed, you do not follow footsteps of the Satan, and whoever follows footsteps of the Satan, then indeed, he commands with the immorality and the evil. And if not God’s grace upon you and His mercy, not anyone of you would have ever purified from among you (maa jakaa minkum min ahadin abadan), but God purifies whomever He wills. And God is Hearer, Knower.

[24:28] Then if you do not find anyone in them (fa-in lam-tajidu feehaa ahadan) that you do not enter them until permission is given to you. And if it has been said to you, “Go back,” then you shall go back, it is purer for you. God is Knower of what you do.

[29:28] And Lot when he said to his people, “Indeed, you surely commit the immorality has not preceded anyone with it  from a people of the world (maa-sabaqakum bihaa min ahadin mina al-`aalameen).

[33:32] O wives of the prophet, you have not been like anyone among the women (yaa-nisaa-a al-nabiyi las’tunna ka-ahadin mina al-nisaa-i), if you have feared (God), then you do not be soft in the speech lest the one who has disease in his heart may move with desire, and you shall say a word being a right one.

[33:39] Those who convey God’s messages and fear Him, and they do not fear anyone except God (wa-laa-yakhshawna ahadan illaa allahi). And with God has sufficed as a Reckoner.

[33:40] Muhammad has not been a father of anyone of your men (maa-kaana muhammadun abaa ahadin min rijaalikum), but has been a messenger of God and a seal of the prophets. And God has done as Knower of everything.

Note: It may help to understand what has been given to Muhammad is the last scripture of mankind.

[35:41] Indeed, God holds the heavens and the earth that they cease. And that if they had ceased, anyone would not have held them after of Him (wa-la-in zaalataa in am’sakahumaa min ahadin min ba`dahi). Indeed, He is Forbearing, Forgiving.

[38:35] He said, “My Lord, forgive for me, and grant for me a kingdom not belong to anyone after of me (rabbi igh’fir lee wahab lee mul’kan laa-yanbaghee li-ahadin min ba`di-i) . Indeed You, You are the Grantor.”

[43:17] And when it has been given a good news to anyone of them (of a female child) (wa-idhaa bushira ahadahum), with that he has ascribed to the Gracious a likeness – his face has become dark and he has been with grief.

[49:12] O you who have believed, you shall avoid many of the assumption. Indeed, certain assumption is sin, while you do not spy, nor do you backbite of you to other. Would one of you like to eat a flesh of his dead brother (a-yuhibbu ahadukum an yakulu lah’ma ahkeehi maytan)? That you would have hated it. And you shall fear God; indeed, God is Redeemer, Merciful.

[59:11] Do you not see to those who have committed hypocrisy saying to their brothers those who have disbelieved from a people of the scripture, “That if you had been expelled, that we would surely leave with you, and we will not obey anyone ever among you (wa-laa-nutee`u feekum ahadan abadan), and if you had been fought, that we would surely help you.” And God bears witness that they are surely liars.

[63:10] And you shall spend from what we have provided you before that the death has come to anyone of you (an yatiya ahadakumu al-mawtu), then he says, “My Lord, why have You not delayed me for a short term that I would give charity and would be with the righteous.”

[69:47] Then anyone from you would not be from him (prophet) of preventers (fa-maa minkum min ahadin `anhu haajizeena).

[72:2] It (Quran) guides to the right path; so, we have believed in it, and we will never associate anyone with our Lord (wa-lan ush’rika bi-rabbinaa ahadan).

Note: God has given the Quran to guide to the right path that no one associates partners with Him.

[72:7] And that they had thought like you have thought that God would not raise anyone (zanantum an lan yab’`atha allahu ahadan) (as messenger).

[72:18] And that the masjids belong to God; so, you do not call on anyone with God (fa-laa-tad’`u ma`a allahi ahadan).

Note: It may help to understand how we should call people for the prayer to the masjids.

[72:20] Say, “I (Muhammad) only call on my Lord, and I do not associate anyone with Him (innamaa ad’`uu rabi-i wa-laa ush’riku bihi ahadan).”

[72:22] Say, “Indeed me, anyone cannot protect me from God (inni-i lan yujeerani-I mina allahi ahadan) , nor can I find any refuge other than Him.

[72:26] He is a Knower of the unseen, while He does not reveal of His unseen to anyone (fa-laa-yuz’hiru `alaa ghaybihi ahadan).

[89:25] So, that day anyone cannot punish as His punishment (fa-yawma-idhin laa-yu’adhibu `adhaabahu ahadan)   .

[89:26] And no one can confine as His confinement (wa-laa-yuuthiqu wathaaqahu ahadan).

[90:5] Does he think that anyone does not have power over him (a-yah’sabu an lan yaqdiru `alayhi ahadan)?

[90:7] Does he think that anyone does not see him (a-yah’sabu an lam yarahu ahadan)?

[92:19] And not for anyone with him any favor to be recompensed (wa-maa li-ahadin `indahu min ni`matin tuj’zaa).

[112:1] Say, “He is God, One (huwa allahu ahadun).

[112:4] And there is not anyone to be equal to Him (wa-lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahadan).”

Instances of ih’daa

11 instances of ih’daa meaning one or any in the noun form found 10 verses of 8 surahs  are reviewed to better understand their meaning in different contexts:

[2:282] O you who have believed, when you have contracted one another of any debt for a fixed period, then you shall write it and a scribe shall write between of you with the justice. And a scribe should not refuse that he writes like that God has taught him. So he shall write and the one on whom is the right shall dictate. And he shall fear God, his Lord and will not diminish anything from it. Then if the one on him is the right of a limited knowledge, or weak, or he is not able to dictate, then his guardian shall dictate with the justice, and shall call for two witnesses from your men, then if there are not two men, then one man and two women you agree of the witnesses that she errs – one of two (an tadilla ih’daahumaa), then one of two will remind the other (fa-tudhakkira ih’daahumaa al-ukh’raa). And the witnesses should not refuse when that they have been called. And do not be weary that you write it whether lesser or greater for its term. That is more just with God and more straight for the evidence and nearer that you do not have doubt except that a transaction be present, you carry out among yourselves, then it has not been any sin upon you that you do not write. And you shall have witness when you have made an commercial transaction. A scribe should not be harmed, nor a witness, and if you do, then indeed, it is a sinful conduct for you, and you shall fear God. And God teaches you and God is Knower of everything.

[4:20] And if you have intended replacing a wife in place of a wife, and you have given one of them a lot (wa-aataytum ih’daahunna qintaaran), then you do not take away anything from it. Would you take it by a slander and a clear sin?

[8:7] And when God promises you one of the two groups that it would be for you (wa-idh ya`idukumu allahu ih’daa al-taaifatayni annahaa la’kum), while you wish that other than that of the armed would be for you. And God intends to justify the truth with His words and to cut off roots of the disbelievers.

[9:52] Say, “Would you wait with us except for one of the two best (hal tarabbasuuna binaa illaa ih’daa al-hus’nayayni), while we wait for you that God will afflict you with a punishment from Him, or by our hands? So, wait; indeed, we are waiting with yourselves of waiting ones.”

[28:25] Then there had come to him (Moses) one of the two women walking upon shying (fa-jaa-athu ih’daahumaa tam’shee `alaa is’tih’yaain). She said, “My father calls you to recompense you a reward for that you have watered for us.” So when he had come to him and had narrated the story, he said, “Do not fear. You have escaped from the people of the wrongdoers.”

[28:26] Said one of them (qaalat ih’daahumaa), “O my father, hire him. Indeed, a best whoever you have hired is the strong, the trustworthy.”

[28:27] He said, “Indeed me, I wish to get married you to one of my daughters of these two (inni-i ureedu an unkihaka ih’daa ib’natayya haatayni) on that you serve me for eight pilgrimage period of time; while if you complete ten, then it is from yourself, and I do not wish to make difficult for you. You will find me, God willing of the righteous.”

[35:42] And they had sworn by God saying a solemn of their oaths that if a warner had come to them, that they would surely be better guided than any of the communities (la’yakuununna ahda min ih’daa al-umami). Then when a warner had come to them, it had not increased them except in aversion.

[49:9] If two parties of the believers have fought, then you shall make peace between of them, but if one of them oppresses on the other (fa-in baghat ih’daahumaa `alaa al-ukh’raa), then you shall fight which oppresses until it return to God’s command. Then if it returns, then you shall make peace between of them with the justice, and shall act to be just. Indeed, God loves those who act to be just

[74:35] Indeed, it is surely one of the greatest (innahaa la’ih’daa al-kubari) (reminder).

Note: A reference of confirming the Quran’s mathematical coding to be a reminder for the human race, even having a factual being the digits of surah and verse number is a multiple of 19 => 7 + 4 + 3 + 5 = 19 (19x1).

This review on 41 instances of ahad and ih’daa in the noun form meaning anyone and one may help us understand that those who convey God’s messages never fear anyone except Him, the birth of Jesus was special being it a sign for the mankind, what has been given to Muhammad was the last scripture to guide to the straight path not to associate anyone with God, there is no protector other than Him and He is Knower of the unseen, while He does not reveal it except through His messenger, He is One and no one is equal to Him.

We should leave a will before our death and the will to be prepared with just having witnesses from the people whose witnesses are acceptable, and we should be fair with our wives even if we have intended to divorce anyone, God has sent a warner to every community that they may be better guided, while He has confirmed the Quran’s mathematical coding to be a reminder of the human race.
