All praise to God who has created us and has given a term in the earth
- All praise is to God, the One who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light; yet those who disbelieve make others equal to their Lord (6:1). He is the One who created you from clay, then decreed a term — and a specified term is with Him — yet you doubt (6:2). And He is God in the heavens and in the earth. He knows your secret and your open declaration, and He knows what you earn (6:3).
Note: God has described Himself who He is, and why He is worthy of our praise: He has not only created us giving a term on the earth but He also knows our secret and declaration, while the disbelievers will face the consequence for their deviation.
Signs around us make easy to reflect for believing in sovereignty of God
- And there comes not to them any sign from the signs of their Lord, but they have been turning away from it (6:4). Then indeed, they have denied the truth when it has come to them, so there will come to them the news of what they have been mocking (6:5). Have they not seen how many generations We have destroyed before them? We had established them in the earth in a way that We have not established for you. And We had sent the sky raining abundantly upon them, and made the rivers flow from beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins, and brought forth after them other generations (6:6). And even if We had sent down to you a scripture on parchment, and they had touched it with their hands, those who have disbelieved would surely have said, ‘This is nothing but clear magic (6:7). And they said, ‘Why has an angel not been sent down to him?’ And if We had sent down an angel, the matter would surely have been decided; then they would not be granted respite (6:8).
Note: Whatever signs come from God the disbelievers will consistently deny them but they cannot escape the consequence when it comes to them.
Ridicling messengers is not new
- And if We had made him an angel, We would surely have made him a man, and We would have obscured for them what they are obscuring (6:9). And certainly, messengers before you had been mocked, but those who ridiculed them were surrounded by what they had been mocking (6:10). Say, “Travel through the earth, then see how had been the end of the deniers.” (6:11).
Note: God has sent messengers to us to guide us but the rejecters had faced the consequences with that what they mocked with it.
God will protect the prophet on a day of Judgment if he had obeyed Him
- Say, “To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth?” Say, “To God.” He has decreed mercy upon Himself. He will surely gather you to the Day of Resurrection—there is no doubt therein. Those who have lost their souls, so they do not believe (6:12). To Him belongs what dwells in the night and the day. He is the Hearer, the Knower (6:13). Say, “Should I take as a protector other than God, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, while He feeds and is not fed?” Say, “Indeed, I have been commanded to be the first of those who have submitted, and do not ever be among the idol worshipers.” (6:14). Say, “Indeed, I fear, if I disobeyed my Lord, the punishment of a great day.” (6:15). Whoever it is averted from on that Day, then He has had mercy on him. And that is the obvious success (6:16). And if God touches you with affliction, then there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good, then He is Powerful over everything (6:17). And He is the Supreme over His servants, and He is the Wise, the Cognizant (6:18).
Note: God has bestowed mercy upon Himself and He will gather all on a Day of the Resurrection, there is no doubt in it and would be a very difficult day. He will protect him whoever had mercy on him and will protect the prophet on that day, if he had obeyed Him being Sovereign over His servants, while He is the Wise and the Cognizant.
God has revealed the Quran to Muhammad to warn people with it
- Say, “Which thing is greatest in testimony?” Say, “God is Witness between of me and of you, and this-the Quran has been revealed to me that I warn you with it and whomever it reaches. Do you indeed surely testify that there are other gods with God?” Say, “I do not testify.” Say, “He is only One God, and indeed, I am innocent of what you associate.” (6:19). Those to whom we have given the scripture recognize it just as they recognize their children. Those who lost their souls, they do not believe (6:20). And who is more unjust than whoever has invented a lie about God or has denied His revelations? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed (6:21). And the day we will gather them all, then we will say to those who have associated partners, “Where are your partners those whom you had been claiming?” (6:22). Then there will be no plea for them except that they say, “By God, our Lord, we had not been idol worshipers.” (6:23). Look how they have lied to themselves, and lost from them is what they had been inventing (6:24).
Note: God is a witness between prophet Muhammad and the people that He has revealed the Quran to him to warn the people with it confirming that there is no god except God, and He has made it as simple as to believe for the people of the scripture like that they recognize their children, while those who are lost have invented a lie about God and have denied in His revelations will not succeed for turning them wicked as well as making them the idol worshipers, while they will deny their polytheism on a day He will gather them.
To disbelievers what has been revealed to Muhammad is a tale from the past
- And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts veils, lest they understand it, and in their ears a heaviness. And if they see every sign, they will not believe in it, until, when they have come to you arguing with you, those who have disbelieved say, “This is nothing but tales of the past.”(6:25). And they forbid it and keep away from it, and they destroy none but themselves, while they do not perceive (6:26). And if you could see when they have been made to stand before the Fire, and they say, “Oh, would that we could be sent back! Then we would not deny the revelations of our Lord, and we would be among the believers!” (6:27). Nay, there has become apparent to them what they had been concealing before. And if they were sent back, they would surely return to what they had been forbidden from; and indeed, they are surely liars (6:28). They said, “It is nothing but our life of this world, and we will not be resurrected.” (6:29). And if you could see when they have been made to stand before their Lord! He will say, “Is this not the truth?” They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.” He will say, “So taste the punishment for what you have been disbelieving.”(6:30). Certainly, those who denied the meeting with God have lost, until, when the Hour comes to them unexpectedly, they say, “Oh, our regret over what we neglected therein!” And they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil has been what they bear (6:31).
Note: Following God’s revelations, i.e., the Quran is our means to save us from the Fire on a Day of the Judgment but most people disbelieve in it saying that this is nothing but the tales from the past. They keep themselves away from it and forbid others from it, even those who listen to it fail to understand it for having veil around their hearts and deafness in their ears placed by God for their disbelief.
The prophet is advised to be patient not to be ignorant being frustrated
- And the life of the world is nothing but play and amusement, but the home of the Hereafter is surely better for those who fear God. Will you not then reflect? (6:32)? We certainly know that it grieves you what they say; for indeed, they do not deny you, but the wrongdoers deny God’s revelations (6:33). And certainly, messengers before you had been denied, but they were patient with what they had been denied and they had been harmed until there had reached them Our help. And there is no changer for the words of God. And certainly, there has come to you certain news of the messengers (6:34). And if their aversion has been difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a ladder into the sky so that you may bring them a sign, [then do so]. And if God had willed, He would surely have gathered them upon guidance; so do not be among the ignorant (6:35). Indeed, those who listen will respond; and the dead—God will resurrect them, then to Him they will be returned (6:36). They said, “Why has not been sent down a sign (miracle) to him from his Lord?” Say, “Indeed, God has been powerful over to send down a sign, but most of them do not know” (6:37).
Note: Though rejecting God’s messengers is a human tragedy but those who reject messengers do not reject them except God’s revelations. The prophet is advised to be patient as well as not to be an ignorant being frustrated. If God had willed, He would have gathered all to the guidance, while the duty of messengers is to convey the message and who will accept or reject is God’s concern.
Deaf and dumb deny in God’s revelations being in the darkness
- And neither of a creature in the earth nor a bird flies with its wings, but are communities like you. We have not left out of anything in the scripture; then to their Lord they will be gathered (6:38). And those who have denied Our revelations are deaf and dumb in darkness. Whomever God wills, He lets him go astray; and whomever He wills, He places him on a straight path (6:39). Say, “Have you seen yourselves: if there has come to you the punishment of God or there has come to you the Hour, is it other than God you would call, if you have been truthful?” (6:40)? Nay, Him alone you call, so He removes that for which you call upon Him, if He wills, and you forget what you associate (6:41). And certainly, We had sent to communities before you; then We seized them with adversity and hardship so that they might humble themselves (6:42). Then why, when Our punishment had come to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts had become hardened, and Satan had made fair-seeming to them what they had been doing (6:43). So when they had forgotten what they had been reminded of, We opened for them the gates of everything until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and behold, they were stunned (6:44). So the remnant of the people who have done wrong was cut off. And all praise is to God, Lord of the worlds (6:45).
Note: The Quran has everything including reminders to do the righteous deeds but the devils have hardened the hearts of the rejecters to make them losers adorning their deeds in their eyes.
Role and responsibilities of the prophet
- Say: “Have you considered: if God takes away your hearing and your sight and seals your hearts, which god other than God could bring it back to you?” See how We diversify the revelations; yet they turn away (6:46). Say: “Have you considered: if the punishment of God comes to you unexpectedly or openly, will any be destroyed except the wrongdoing people?” (6:47)? And We do not send the sent ones except as bearers of good news and warners; then whoever has believed and has reformed—there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve (6:48). And those who have denied Our revelations—the punishment will touch them for what they have been disobeying (6:49). Say, “I do not say to you that with me are the treasures of God, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel. I do not follow except what is revealed to me.” Say, “Are the blind and the seer equal? Will you not then reflect?” (6:50)? And warn with it those who fear that they shall be gathered to their Lord—for them there has not been any protector other than Him, nor has there been any intercessor—so that they may fear God (6:51). And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the afternoon, desiring His Pleasure. Not is upon you anything of their reckoning, nor is upon them anything of your reckoning, so that you should drive them away and be among the wrongdoers (6:52). And thus We tested one of them by another that they might say, “Are these the ones whom God has blessed from among us?” Is God not most knowing of the grateful? (6:53)? And when there have come to you those who believe in Our revelations, say, “Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed mercy upon Himself: that whoever among you has done evil out of ignorance, then repents after it and reforms — then indeed, He is Forgiving, Merciful.” (6:54). And thus we detail the revelations, and so that the way of the criminals may become clear (6:55). Say, “Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those whom you call other than God.” Say, “I do not follow your desires; otherwise, I would have gone astray then, and I would not be among the guided (6:56). Say, “Indeed, I am upon a clear proof from my Lord, while you have denied it. Not with me is what you seek to hasten. The decision is not but for God; He relates the truth, and He is the Best of deciders.” (6:57). Say, “If that what you seek to hasten were with me, the matter would surely have been decided between me and you. And God is Knower of the wrongdoers.” (6:58).
Note: Since messengers are just bearers of good news and warners, the prophet was commanded to warn with the Quran to those who are aware that they will be gathered before their Lord and they do not have besides Him any protector nor do they have any intercessor so that they may be righteous, while the prophet was also commanded not to worship what he used to worship besides God and to follow what is revealed to him.
God is the Powerful who controls all matters from living to death
- And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but He knows it, nor a seed within the darknesses of the earth, nor moist nor dry, but it is in a clear record (6:59). And He is the One who takes you by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He raises you up therein so that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him is your return; then He will inform you of what you have been achieving (6:60). And He is the Supreme over His servants, and He sends guardians over you until, when death comes to one of you, our messengers take him, and they do not fail (6:61). Then they have been returned to God, their Protector, the Truth. Unquestionably, His is the judgment, and He is the swiftest of reckoners (6:62). Say, “Who rescues you from the darknesses of the land and the sea?” You call upon Him humbly and in secret, “If He saves us from this, we will surely be among the grateful.” (6:63). Say, “God saves you from it and from every distress, yet you associate partners.” (6:64) Say, “He is the Powerful [One] to send punishment upon you from above you or from beneath your feet, or to confuse you into sects and make some of you taste the violence of others. See how We diversify the revelations so that they may understand.” (6:65). Your people have denied it, while it is the truth. Say, “I am not over you a guardian.” (6:66). For every prophecy there is a specified time, and you will know (6:67).
Note: God controls all matters whether it is in the heavens or in the earth, or in the land or in the sea including our living, death and judgment. He maintains precise record and is the swiftest in reckoning. He is our true Protector and to Him is our return and judgment. All these are explained in the revelations that we may understand to save us from the punishment, which is not too far.
Do not take religion as play and amusement
- And when you see those who plunge into Our revelations, turn away from them until they plunge into a talk other than it. And if Satan causes you to forget, then do not sit after the reminder with the wrongdoing people (6:68). And not is upon those who fear anything of their reckoning, but [it is] a reminder so that they may fear (6:69). And leave those who have taken their religion as play and amusement, and whom the life of the world has deceived. And remind with it, lest a soul be destroyed for what it has earned. It has no protector other than God, nor any intercessor. And if it offers every ransom, it will not be taken from it. Those are the ones who are destroyed for what they earned. For them is a drink of boiling water and a painful punishment for what they have been disbelieving (6:70).
Note: God has warned that if we are deceived by the life of the world accepting religion as a play and amusement, we will suffer on a day the horn will be blown for what we have earned to disbelieve.
God’s guidance is the true guidance
- Say, “Should we call upon other than God what does not benefit us nor harm us, and be turned back on our heels after God has guided us? Like the one whom the devils have enticed in the earth, bewildered; he has companions calling him to guidance, “Come to us!” Say, “Indeed, the guidance of God is the [true] guidance, and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds.” (6:71). And, “Establish the Salat prayer and fear Him.” And He is the One to Whom you will be gathered (6:72). And He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in truth. And the Day He says, “Be,” and it is—His word is the truth. And His is the dominion on the Day the Trumpet is blown. Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He is the Wise, the Cognizant (6:73).
Note: God’s guidance is the true guidance, and He guides us being Truth, Wise and Cognizant, and to Him belongs the dominion.
The debate of Abraham with the polytheists
- And when Abraham said to his father, Azar, “Do you take idols as gods? Indeed, I see you and your people in obvious straying.” (6:74). And thus We show Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, so that he might be among the ascertainers (6:75). So when the night had covered him, he saw a star. He said, “This is my Lord.” Then when it had set, he said, “I do not like the ones that set.” (6:76). Then when he had seen the moon rising, he said, “This is my Lord.” Then when it had set, he said, “If my Lord does not guide me, I will surely be among the strayers.” (6:77). Then when he had seen the sun rising, he said, “This is my Lord; this is greater.” Then when it had set, he said, “O my people! Indeed, I am innocent of what you associate. (6:78). Indeed Me, I have turned myself toward Him who has originated the heavens and the earth—monotheism, and I am not of the partner-makers.” (6:79). His people had argued with him. He said, “Do you argue with me about God while He has guided me? And I do not fear what you associate with Him, unless my Lord should will something. My Lord has encompassed everything in knowledge. Will you not then remember? (6:80). And how should I fear what you have associated, while you do not fear that you have associated with God what He has not sent down for you any authority with it? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you had been knowing? (6:81). Those who have believed and have not mixed their faith with wrongdoing—those, for them is security, and they are the guided. (6:82).
Note: God guided Abraham to turn to the One who created the heavens and the earth. He explored all possible ways to find God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He was a monotheist and had never associated partners with God.
God has mentioned names of 18 prophets who are raised to higher ranks
- And that was Our argument which We had given to Abraham against his people. We raise in degrees whomever We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise, Knower (6:83). And We had granted to him Isaac and Jacob—each We had guided. And Noah We had guided before, and of his descendants: David and Solomon, and Job and Joseph, and Moses and Aaron. And thus We reward the doers of good (6:84). And Zakariya, John, Jesus, and Elias; all were among the righteous (6:85). And Ismail, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot—and each We had preferred over the people (6:86). And from their fathers and their descendants and their brothers; and We had chosen them and We had guided them to a straight path (6:87). That is the guidance of God; He guides with it whomever He wills of His servants. And if they had associated partners, surely, what they had been doing would have become worthless for them (6:88). Those are the ones whom We had given them the Scripture and the judgment and the prophethood. So if these disbelieve in it, then certainly We had entrusted it to a people who are not disbelievers in it (6:89).
Note: From the verses 83-86, we know 18 names confirming Noah before of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, and ending with Lot being all of them descendants of Noah, while the verse 89 confirms that all those 18 were prophets of God for giving them scripture, wisdom and prophethood, even there is an explicit proof from the verse being the sum of surah and verse number is a multiple of 19 => 6 + 89 = 95 (19x5) to have no confusion in our hearts.
The prophets mentioned by name were truly guided
- Those are the ones whom God has guided, so follow their guidance. Say, “I do not ask you for it any reward; it is not but a reminder for the people (6:90)
Note: The prophets named above were truly guided, and Muhammad is advised to make efforts to achieve his guidance to their level letting him know what has been given to him, is a reminder for the people of the world, referring to Quran’s mathematical coding as a reminder being the Arabic word (dhik’raa) for a reminder in the feminine gender, while the Quran is a reminder for the people of th world.
God does reveal, even the disbelievers do not believe His revelations
- They have not appraised God with the truth of His appraisal when they said, “God has not sent down anything upon a human being.” Say, “Who sent down the Scripture which Moses came with as a light and guidance for the people? You make it into scrolls, disclosing them while concealing much, and you were taught what you did not know—neither you nor your forefathers.” Say, “God.” Then leave them in their discourse, playing. (6:91). And this is a Scripture We have sent down, blessed and confirming what came before it, so that you may warn the Mother of Cities and whoever is around it. And those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are consistent in their Salat prayers (6:92). And who is more wicked than whoever has invented a lie about God, or said: “It has been inspired to me,” while it was not inspired anything to him; and whoever said: “I will bring down like what God has sent down.” And if you could see when the wicked are in agonies of the death, while the angels are stretching out their hands: “Discharge your souls; today, you will be recompensed with the humiliating punishment for what you have done to say about God other than the truth, and you had been to be arrogant towards His revelations.” (6:93). And certainly, you have come to Us alone, just as We created you the first time, and you have left behind your backs whatever We bestowed upon you. And We do not see with you your intercessors—those whom you claimed were partners among you. Indeed, the bond between you has been severed, and has vanished from you what you had been claiming.” (6:94).
Note: The disbelievers do not value God as He should be valued, while those who invent lies about God and claim that they can reveal the same what God has revealed will suffer a humiliating punishment on a day of the Resurrection when they will meet God as individual without intercessors.
Signs in the nature to understand God’s system
- Indeed, God is the Splitter of the grain and the date seed. He brings forth the living from the dead, and is the Bringer forth of the dead from the living. That is God; then how are you deluded? (6:95) The Cleaver of the daybreak, and He has made the night for rest, and the sun and the moon for calculation. That is designing of the Almighty, the Knower (6:96). And He is the One who has made the stars for you that you may be guided by them in the darknesses of the land and the sea. Certainly, we have made clear the signs for a people who know (6:97). And He is the One who has initiated you from one soul, then a place of dwelling and a repository. Certainly, we have made clear the signs for a people who understand.(6:98). And He is the One who has sent down water from the sky, then We have brought forth with it plants of every kind, then We have brought forth from it green vegetation, from which We bring forth grain clustered thick. And from the date-palm, from its spathe, have come clusters of dates hanging low, and gardens of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, similar and not similar. Look at its fruit when it has borne fruit and its ripening. Indeed, in that there are signs for a people who believe (6:99). And they have made the jinns partners for God, even though He has created them, and they have attributed sons and daughters to Him without knowledge. Glory is His, and He has exalted Himself far above what they attribute (6:100). The Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have a son when He has never had a companion, and He has created all things, and He is Knower over all things? (6:101).
Note: God has created all things and He is knowledgeable over all of them as well. He has also given us many signs in the nature to understand His system.
God is our Lord and god being Creator of everything
- That is god your Lord, there is no god except He, Creator of everything. So, worship Him, and He is Guardian over everything (6:102). No visions can encompass Him, but He encompasses all visions. He is the Subtle, the Cognizant (6:103). Certainly, there have come to you enlightenments from your lord. So, whoever has seen, then he has seen for himself; and whoever has been blind, then it is against himself. And I am not a guardian over you (6:104).Thus we explain the revelations, and that they may say, ‘You have studied,’ and that we may make it clear for a people who know.” (6:105). Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord; there is no god except He, and turn away from the associators (6:106). And if God had willed, they would not have associated partners. And We have not made you a guardian over them, nor are you an advocate over them (6:107).
Note: Enlightenments have come in the Quran from our Lord, so whoever has seen, does so for his soul, but whoever is blind, does so against his soul. Thus, those who believe in God and the Hereafter worship Him without associating partners with.
God controls our hearts and vision
- And do not insult those whom they call upon other than God, lest they insult God in enmity having no knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to every community their deed. Then to their Lord is their return, then He will inform them of what they had been doing (6:108). And they have sworn by God their solemn oaths that if a miracle had come to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, “The miracles are only with God.” And what makes you perceive that if it had come, they would not believe? (6:109)? And We turn their hearts and their eyes, just as they did not believe in it the first time, and We leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly (6:110). And if We had sent down the angels to them, and the dead had spoken to them, and We had gathered everything before them face to face, they would not have believed unless God willed. But most of them are ignorant(6:111).
Note: The disbelievers are blind to the proofs as the Satan has adorned their deeds for them.
Attempts to collect Hadiths at the prophet’s lifetime being it a satanic trick
- And thus we have made for every prophet an enemy — devils of humans and jinn, inspiring one another with fancy words to deceive. And if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it. So disregard them and what they invent (6:112). And so that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline to it, and so that they may be pleased with it, and so that they may commit whatever they are committing (6:113).
Note: Here is the warning for the prophet and his contemporaries for disregarding fancy words and their fabricators, while the history indicates that at the prophet’s lifetime many so-called hadiths were collected being satanic trick and the prophet had told them to burn that.
- Is it then other than God I should seek as a judge, while He is the One Who has sent down the scripture to you as a detailed one? And those to whom We have given the scripture know that it is a sent-down from your Lord with truth. So, do not be among the doubters (6:114). And the Word of your Lord has culminated in truth and justice. There is no changer of His words, and He is the Hearer, the Knower (6:115). And if you obey a majority of whoever is in the earth, they will mislead you from the path of God; they do not follow except conjecture, and they do nothing except guess (6:116). Indeed, your Lord, He is the best Knower about whoever goes astray from His path, and He is the best Knower about the guided ones (6:117).
Note: The believers must follow a sentdown from their Lord, which has completed truth and justice with His words, while they are committing a horrendous crime seeking a judge other than God as well as following the conjecture. God has warned us not to follow the majority in the earth, and what we see now that not only prophet’s lifetime attempts were made to invent hadiths but also despite God’s warning volume after volume hadith books were invented down the generations when the prophet was not among the people any more and most people who claim them Muslims follow those invented hadiths assigning them to him instead of what has been sent down to him, but He knows whoever has gone astray and whoever is guided one.
You shall mention God’s name before you eat
- So, eat from that upon which God’s name has been mentioned, if you have been believers in His revelations (6:118). And what is for you that you do not eat from that upon which God’s name has been mentioned, while certainly, He has detailed for you what He has forbidden to you, except that to which you have been compelled? And indeed, many surely mislead by their desires having no knowledge. Indeed, your Lord—He is Knower of the transgressors (6:119). And leave the open sins and the secret ones. Indeed, those who have earned sin will be recompensed for what they had been committing (6:120). And do not eat from that upon which God’s name has not been mentioned, and indeed, it is surely a defiance. And indeed, the devils surely inspire their allies that they may dispute with you; and if you obeyed them, indeed, you would surely be idol worshipers (6:121).
Note: God has detailed out what He has forbidden for us but we should mention God’s name when we eat otherwise we will be allies of the Satan who is unappreciative to God.
Criminals from every community plot against their messengers
- And is one who has been dead, and We have given life to him, and We have made a light for him to walk with among the people, like him whose likeness is in the darknesses, not coming out from them? Thus has been made fair-seeming to the disbelievers what they had been doing (6:122). And thus We have placed in every city the greatest of its criminals that they may plot in it. And they do not plot except against themselves, while they do not perceive (6:123). And when there has come to them a revelation, they have said, ‘We will not believe until we are given the like of what has been given to the messengers of God.’ God is best Knower of where He places His message. There will afflict those who have committed crimes a humiliation from God and a severe punishment for what they had been plotting (6:124).
Note: When a proof has come to them they do not believe but claim that what is given to God’s messengers should be given to them as well, while they plot against their messengers without realizing that they are plotting against themselves being deprived of guidance of God.
Practicing Islam being it a straight path to our Lord
- So, whomever God wills to guide, He expands his breast to submission; and whomever He wills to leave astray, He makes his breast tight, constricted—as if he were climbing into the sky. Thus, God places defilement upon those who do not believe (6:125). And this is the straight path of your Lord. Certainly, We have detailed the revelations for a people who take heed (6:126). For them there is the Home of Peace with their Lord, and He is their Protector for what they had been doing (6:127).
Note: God guides whomever He wills and He lets go astray whomever He wills, and He has given Islam as His path being it straight detailing His revelations to have the final home for those who believe in them and follow them to practice the given rites of Islam in a right way.
The wicked allies of humans and jinns will witness against themselves on a day of Judgment
- And the Day He will gather them all together: “O company of the jinn, certainly, you have taken many from humankind.” And their allies from humankind have said, “Our Lord, we have profited from one another, and we have reached our term which You have appointed for us.” He has said, “The Fire is your abode, as dwellers in it, except what God willed. Indeed, your Lord is Wise, Knower.” (6:128). And thus We make the wrongdoers allies to one another for what they had been earning (6:129). O company of the jinn and humankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, narrating to you My revelations and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?’ They have said, ‘We have borne witness against ourselves.’ And the life of the world has deluded them, and they have borne witness against themselves that they had been disbelievers (6:130). That is because your Lord is not a destroyer of the cities for wrongdoing, while their people are unaware (6:131). And for everyone are ranks for what they had been doing, and your Lord is not unaware of what they do (6:132). And your Lord is the Self-Sufficient, Possessor of mercy. If He wills, He can take you away and cause to succeed after you whom He wills, just as He has raised you from the descendants of another people (6:133). Indeed, what you are promised is surely coming, and you are not escapers (6:134). Say, “O my people, work at your best; indeed, I am working. Then you will know for whom will be the ultimate home. Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.” (6:135).
Note: The wicked allies of humans and jinns will enjoy in the life of the world, but will not succeed on a day of the Resurrection as their abode is Hell wherein they will be dwellers forever upon judgment.
Make efforts to avoid any kinds of idolatry
- And they have assigned a share to God from what He has produced of crops and livestock, and they have said, ‘This is for God,’ by their claim, ‘and this is for our partners.’ But what has been for their partners does not reach God, while what has been for God—it reaches their partners! It has been evil what they judge (6:136). And thus has been made fair-seeming to many of the idol worshipers the killing of their children by their partners, that they may ruin them and that they may confuse their religion for them. And if God had willed, they would not have done it. So, leave them and what they invent (6:137). And they have said, “These livestock and crops are forbidden; none shall eat them except whomever We will,” by their claim. And there are livestock whose backs are forbidden, and livestock upon which they do not mention God’s name, inventing lies against Him. He will recompense them for what they had been inventing (6:138). And they have said, “What is in the bellies of these livestock is exclusive for our males, and has been prohibited to our spouses; but if it is dead, then they are partners in it.” He will recompense them for their fabrication; indeed, He is Wise, Knower (6:139). Certainly, those who have killed their children foolishly without knowledge have lost, and have forbidden what God has provided them, inventing lies against God. Certainly, they have gone astray, and they have not been guided ones (6:140). And He is the One who has produced gardens, trellised and untrellised, and palm trees, and crops with different tastes, and olives, and pomegranates—similar and not similar. Eat from their fruits when they have borne fruit, and give its due on the day of its harvest, and do not be extravagant. Indeed, He does not love the extravagant (6:141).
Note: We should eat what God has made lawful for us, while upholding any other inventions would be setting up partners with Him, and should give what is due on the day of harvest without being extravagant.
Details of dietary prohibition
- And from the livestock are those for burden and those for bedding. Eat from what God has provided you, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; indeed, he is an open enemy to you (6:142). Eight pairs — of the sheep two, and of the goats two. Say, “Is it the two males He has prohibited, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you have been truthful.” (6:143). And of the camels two, and of the cattle two. Say, “Is it the two males He has prohibited, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when God enjoined this upon you? So, who is more wrongdoing than he who has invented a lie against God to mislead the people having no knowledge? Indeed, God does not guide the wrongdoing people.” (6:144). Say, “I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to an eater who eats it, except that it be a dead animal, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of a pig — for indeed, it is an impurity—or an impious offering dedicated to other than God in disobedience. But whoever has been forced, neither desiring nor transgressing, then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.” (6:145). And upon those who have become Jews, We have forbidden every animal with claws; and from the cattle and the sheep, We have forbidden their fat, except what has adhered to their backs, or the entrails, or what has blended with bone. That We have recompensed them for their rebellion, and indeed, We are surely truthful (6:146).
Note: God has prohibited 4 kinds of animal products: (1) dead animal, (2) blood, (3) the meat of pig due to its contamination and (4) the animal which is dedicated to other than God.
Criteria that need to fulfill to be guided by God
- So if they have denied you, then say, “Your Lord is possessor of vast mercy, but His punishment will not be turned back from the criminal people.” (6:147). Those who have associated partners will say, “If God had willed, we would not have associated partners, nor would our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything.” Just as those before them have denied until they have tasted Our wrath. Say, “Is there any knowledge with you that you can bring forth for us? You do not follow except conjecture, and you do nothing except guess.” (6:148). Say, “Then with God is the irrefutable argument; if He had willed, surely, He would have guided you all.” (6:149). Say, “Bring forth your witnesses—those who bear witness that God has forbidden this.” Then if they have borne witness, then do not bear witness with them, nor follow the desires of those who have denied Our revelations, and those who do not believe in the Hereafter; while they make equals with their Lord! (6:150)Say, “Come, I will recite what your Lord has forbidden to you: that you do not associate anything with Him, and be good to parents, and do not kill your children out of poverty—We provide for you and for them—and do not come near lewdness, what has been apparent of it or what has been concealed. And do not kill the soul which God has forbidden, except for justice. That He has enjoined upon you that you may understand.” (6:151). And do not approach the wealth of the orphan except in a way that is best, until they reach maturity. And fulfill the measure and the weight with justice. We do not burden a soul beyond its capacity. And when you have spoken, then be just, even if it concern a near relative. And fulfill the covenant of God. That He has enjoined upon you so that you may take heed. (6:152).And that this is My path, straight; so, follow it, and do not follow other paths, lest they separate you from His path. That He has enjoined upon you so that you may become righteous (6:153).
Note: We need to fulfill certain criteria to be guided by God, which is a straight path for us to Him.
People are given scripture to follow it to do the righteous deeds
- Then We gave Moses the scripture, completing Our favor upon the one who had done good, and detailing all things, and a guidance and mercy, so that they may believe in the meeting with their Lord (6:154). And this is a scripture We have sent down, a blessed one. So, follow it and become righteous, so that you may be given mercy(6:155). Lest you would say, “The scripture has only been sent down to two groups from before us, and indeed, we have been surely unaware of their study.”(6:156) Or lest you would say, “If the scripture had been sent down to us, we would surely have been better guided than them.’ Certainly, there has come to you a clear proof from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy. So, who is more wrongdoing than he who has denied God’s revelations and has turned away from them? We will recompense those who turn away from Our revelations an evil punishment for what they had been turning away.” (6:157). Are they waiting except that the angels should come to them, or your Lord should come, or certain signs of your Lord should come? The Day certain signs of your Lord come, it will not benefit a soul for its faith if it had not believed from before, or had earned any good through its faith. Say, “Wait; indeed, We are waiters.” (6:158). Indeed, those who have divided their religion and have become sects, you are not with them in anything. Their matter is only with God, then He will inform them of what they had been doing (6:159). Whoever has come with a good deed, then for him is ten times the like of it; and whoever has come with an evil deed, then he will not be recompensed except the like of it, and they will not be wronged (6:160).
Note: Those who have followed it (Quran) and have done the righteous deeds will receive God’s mercy, while those who have denied it and associate partners with God cannot escape His punishment.
God’s guidance for Muhammad to a straight path of an established religion
- Say, “Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path, an established religion, the religious practice of Abraham — Monotheism. And he was not among the idol worshipers.” (6:161). Say (prophet), Say, “Indeed, my salat prayers, and my practices, and my living, and my dying are for God, Lord of the worlds (6:162). There is no partner for Him, and with that I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Submitters.” (6:163). Say, “Is it other than God I should seek as a Lord, while He is Lord of everything? And each soul earns not except against itself, and no bearer of burden can bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, then He will inform you of what you had been differing concerning it.” (6:164).
Note: The verses in reference are very crucial to understand and make a distinction between Muhammad as a prophet and Muhammad as a person that as a person he was commanded to guide himself obeying God’s words to a straight path, an established religion, a religion of Abraham – Monotheism that he can appreciate his Lord dedicating his praise and prayers to Him alone being informed that every soul will return to his Lord with what it has done to achieve and no soul will bear any burden of another soul.
The earth is a testing place for us
- And He is the One Who has made you successors of the earth, and He has raised you above one another in ranks, so that He may test you in what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in punishment, and indeed, He is surely Forgiving, Merciful (6:165).
Note: God has made us inheritors of the earth with all to test us that we may make our all efforts for successful return to Him.
In summary, there are 165 verses in the surah al-An’`aam and the most significant aspects that are covered in the surah are: (1) sufficient signs around us to believe in the sovereignty of God, (2) Ridiculing messengers is not new, (3) God is Protector of the prophet, (4) polytheists deny their polytheism, (5) prophet is advised to be patient not to be ignorant being frustrated, (6) deaf and dumb reject God’s revelations, (7) role and responsibilities of the prophet, (8) God controls all matters through His system, (9) not to take religion to be a play and amusement, (10) God’s guidance is the true guidance, (11) the debate of Abraham with the polytheists, (12) 18 prophets mentioned by name giving them higher ranks were truly guided by God, (13) God should be honored as He should be honored, (14) signs in the nature to understand God’s system, (15) God is our Lord and god being Creator of everything, (16) God controls our hearts and sight, (17) to follow what has been given from God instead of any conjecture, (18) warning for the believers not to follow the majority, (19) remembering God’s name is required when we eat, (20) criminals from every community plot and scheme against their messengers, (21) practicing rites of Islam is a straight path to our Lord, (22) to make efforts to avoid any kinds of idol worshiping, (23) details of dietary prohibition, (24) criteria that need to fulfill to be guided by God, (25) God guides His prophet to an established religion of Monotheism, and (26) the earth is a testing place for the human being.
However, enlightenments have come in the Quran, which is a straight path for us to our Lord. Now if we make our efforts to dedicate our all praise and prayers to God upon following it, we may successfully return to our Lord being guided by Him as well as avoiding any painful retribution on a Day of the Resurrection.
Peaceful Friday, salaam and God bless.
