The cheaters do not think that they will stand before God upon resurrection
- Woe to the cheaters (83:1). Those who when take a measure from the people take in full measure (83:2). And when they have measured for them, they give less (83:3). Do not think those that they will not be resurrected? (83:4). For a great day? (83:5). That day people will stand before Lord of the worlds (83:6).
Note: Those who cheat in measuring do not think that they will stand before God upon resurrection.
The wickedness of the wicked has been record as Sijjeen
- Nay, indeed, a record of the wicked is in Sijjeen (83:7). And what have you made known what Sijjeen is? (83:8). A written record (83:9). Woe on that day to the deniers (83:10). Those who deny in a Day of the Judgment (83:11). They do not deny in it except every sinful transgressor (83:12). When is recited our revelations to him, he says, “Tales from the previous people” (83:13). Nay, indeed, has covered over their hearts for what they have done to achieve (83:14). Indeed, that they will surely be isolated from their Lord (83:15). Then indeed, they surely will be burning in the Hellfire (83:16). Then it will be said, “This is what you had done to deny in it.” (83:17).
Note: Those who have denied in a Day of the Judgment and have done wicked deeds are recorded. Their record is named to be Sijjeen and they will burn in the Hellfire.
The righteousness of the righteous has been record as Illiyyeen
- Nay, indeed, a record of the righteous will surely be in `Illiyyeen (83:18). And what have you made known what `Illiyyuun is? (83:19). A written record (83:20). He will witness it of those who are brought near (83:21). Indeed, the righteous will surely be in bliss (83:22). On the couches to enjoy (83:23). You will recognize in their faces a radiance of the bliss (83:24). They will be given drink from a sealed pure beverage (83:25). Its seal will be of musk, and in that is the aspirers should aspire (83:26). And its mixed is of Tasneem (83:27). A spring from it will drink those are brought near (83:28).
Note: Those who have believed in a Day of the Judgment and have done the righteous deeds are recorded as well. Their record is named to be Illiyyeen and they will enjoy on the couches while they will drink from a sealed pure beverage.
The believers will laugh at the disbelievers on a day of the Judgment
- Indeed, those who committed crimes had done to laugh at those who had believed (83:29). And when they had passed by them, they would wink to each other (83:30). And when they had returned to their people, they would return jesting (83:31). And when had seen them, they said, “Indeed, these surely have gone far astray! (83:32). And they had not been sent guardians over them.” (83:33). So, today those who had believed are laughing at the disbelievers (83:34), enjoying on the couches (83:35). Have the disbelievers been rewarded for what they have done to accomplish? (83:36).
Note: The disbelievers has laughed at the believers in the life of the world, while the believers will laugh at the disbelievers in the Hereafter, and the disbelievers will be rewarded for what they had done to accomplish.
Surah al-mutaffifeen (Surah 83: The Cheaters), a short surah composed of 36 straightforward verses can be reviewed reflecting that (1) The cheaters do not think that they will stand before God upon resurrection, (2) the wickedness of the wicked has been recorded as Sijjeen, (3) the righteousness of the righteous has been recorded as Illiyyeen, and (4) the believers will laugh at the disbelievers on a Day of the Judgment, while the disbelievers had laughed at the believers in the life of the world.
God has recorded the deeds of the disbelievers and the believers. Even the records have been named – the records of the disbelievers have been named to be Sijjeen distinguishing those from the records of the believers, which have been named to be Illiyyeen. On a Day of the Judgment everyone will be judged based on these precise records, while believing and disbelieving in a day of the Resurrection and the Judgment are our means to make efforts to be rewarded on that day.
