Why should we follow the Quran alone?

Most Muslims use both Quran and Hadith as sources of religious teachings and laws, even in some cases they depend on Ijma, the opinion of the majority. The most common reasons are: (1) they fail to grasp the Quran, (2) they fail to understand the fact that the Hadith and Sunnah DID NOT come out of the prophet’s mouth, (3) they fail to reflect that the God’s message delivered through all His messengers serves as the guidance, reminder, warning, mercy and healing for all generations of people and (4) they fail to realize that following words other than that of God is defined in the Quran as idolatry. Hadith and Sunnah are fabrications created by simple minded individuals and the enemies of the prophet, who created stories (fabrications) which allege something took place 200 (two hundred) years prior to that time. As the Quran clearly states that fancy words (hadith/sunnah) are creation of the prophet’s ENEMIES (6:112), we should follow Quran alone:

  • Because God confirms us that He is the AUTHOR of the Quran. Now we have both logical (literary excellence) and physical evidences of God’s authorship of the Quran. 19 being Quran’s code is one of the great signs of the Quran (74:30, 74:35) which physically proves that it comes from the Most Wise, Most Cognizant:

[Quran 10:37] And this Quran could not be authored by other than God, which confirms what was before it, and a detailed scripture. There is no doubt in it, from the Lord of the universe.
[Quran 4:82] Then why do they not study the Quran carefully? If it were from other than God, they would have found in it numerous contradictions.
[Quran 6:115] And the word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice. None can change His words, and He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.
[Quran 11:1] Alif.Laam.Reh. This is a scripture whose verses have been perfected, then explained from the One who is Most Wise, Most Cognizant.

[Quran 74:30] Over it is nineteen.
[Quran 74:31] And we made the angels to be guardians of Hell, and we did not make their number except: (1) to warn the disbelievers, (2) to make certain for those who were given the scripture, (3) to strengthen the faith of those who believe, and (4) to eliminate any doubt from those who were given the scripture and the believers. Those who have disease in their hearts as well as the disbelievers would say, “What did God mean by this allegory?” Thus, God misguides whomever he wills and He guides whomever He wills. None knows your Lord’s soldiers except He. In fact, it is a reminder for the humans.
[Quran 74:32] Absolutely, (I swear) by the moon.
[Quran 74:33] And the night as it passes.
[Quran 74:34] And the morning as it shines.
[Quran 74:35] Indeed, this is undoubtly one of the great (signs).

  • Because God has commanded us to follow His words, the Quran; only the Quran, nothing but the Quran:

[Quran 18:27] And You (Muhammad) shall recite what has been revealed to you of the scripture of your Lord. None can change His words and you will not find a protector besides Him.
[Quran 6:114] Shall I then seek other than God as a judge, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? And those to whom we gave the scripture know that it has been revealed from your Lord with truth. So, you will not be the doubtful ones.
[Quran 45:6] These are the God’s revelations that we recite to you with truth. So, in which Hadith other than God and His revelations do they believe?
[Quran 5:50] Is it then the judgment of the days of ignorance that they seek? And who has better judgment than God for a people who have certainty?

  • Because God confirms that the Quran is the last scripture revealed to His final prophet as well as describes it to be a timeless and universal doctrine to the world for all the people that fits all generations, and applies to all eras and societies until the end of the world:

[Quran 25:1] Most blessed is the One who revealed the Statute Book to His servant that he can be a warner to the world.
[Quran 33:40] Muhammad was not the father of any man among you but He was a messenger of God and the final prophet. And God is aware of all things.
[Quran 12:104] And you do not ask them any wage for it; this is but a reminder for the world.
[Quran 38:87] And this is but a reminder for the world.
[Quran 68:52] And this is but a reminder for the world.
[Quran 81:27] This is but a reminder for the world.

  • Because God has coded in the Quran that the Quran is the 19th scripture mentioning 20 prophets by their names (6:83–86, 6:89, 19:55 and 33:40) given the same scripture to Moses and Aaron (21:48 and 37:17), and confirming, and superseding what was before it, clarifying disputes (4:171), correcting and updating messages (2:287, 17:110), and explaining things (4:43 and 5:6) where needed being a guidance, an enlightenment and a reminder for all the people until the Day of Resurrection:

[Quran 2:213] The people used to be one community when God sent the prophets as bearers of good news as well as warners, and He sent down with them the scripture with the truth to judge between the people of what they disputed in it. And they did not differ in it except those who were given it out of jealously among themselves after what came to them the clear proofs. Then God guides those who believed to the truth what they disputed in it in accordance with His will. And God guides whoever He wills to a straight path.
[Quran 3:3] He has revealed to you the scripture with truth, confirming what was before it, and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.
[Quran 5:48] And we have revealed to you the scripture with the truth, confirming the scripture what was before it and consolidating with it. So, you shall judge between them with what God has revealed, and do not follow their wishes as the truth has come to you. For each of you, we have decreed a law and a clear way. Had God willed, He would have made you one community, but He is to test you with what He has given you. So, you shall compete for righteousness. To God you all will return, then He will inform you of what in it you had disputed.
[Quran 21:24] Or have they taken other gods beside Him? Say, “bring your proof. This is a reminder for those who are with me as well as a reminder for those who were before me.” But most of them do not know the truth, so they are so hostile.
[Quran 24:34] And we have revealed to you clarifying revelations, and examples from the past generations, and an enlightenment for the righteous.
[Quran 35:31] And what we have revealed to you in the scripture, is the truth, confirming what was before it. Indeed, God is Cognizant, Seer of His servants.

  • Because God assures us that His guidance is the true guidance (2:120, 3:73 and 6:71) and He guides the believers to the straight path (22:54). He has also informed us that the Quran is the straight path to our Lord (6:126) and it guides to the best path and brings good news to the believers (17:9), and assigns it to be the guidance 19 times in the Quran for our salvation (2:2, 2:97, 2:159, 2:185, 3:138, 6:157, 7:52, 7:203, 10:57, 12:111, 16:64, 16:89, 16:102, 27:2, 27:77, 31:3, 41:44, 45:11 and 45:20):

[Quran 2:120] Neither the Jews, nor the Christians, will accept you, unless you follow their religion. Say, “God’s guidance is the true guidance.” And if you follow their wishes after the knowledge that has come to you, there is neither a protector nor a helper for you against God.
[Quran 3:73] And do not believe except as one who follows your religion.” Say, “The guidance is God’s guidance that is given to one similar to what has been given to you” or they may argue with you about your Lord, say, “The bounty is in God’s hand; He gives it to whomever He wills, and God is Bounteous, Omniscient.”
[Quran 6:71] Say, “Shall we call on other than God what cannot benefit us or harm us, and we turn back on our heels after God has guided us?” Like the one whom the devils have enticed in the earth, is confused, he has friends who call him to the guidance: “Come to us!” Say, “God’s guidance is the true guidance. We are commanded to submit to the Lord of the universe.”
[Quran 22:54] And that those who have been given the knowledge will know that it is the truth from your Lord, then they will believe in it, then their hearts will humbly soften to it. And indeed, God guides those who believe to a straight path.
[Quran 6:126] And this is the straight path to your Lord. Certainly, we have explained the revelations for a people who take heed.
[Quran 17:9] Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is a most straight, and brings good news to the believers who lead a righteous life, that they have deserved a great recompense.

  • Because God states that Quran alone was all what was revealed to prophet Muhammad, and was all what this honest prophet delivered, uttered/recited, followed, or reminded with:

[Quran 5:99] The sole duty of the messenger is to deliver the message, and God knows what you declare and what you conceal.
[Quran 5:49] You shall rule among them in accordance with God’s revelations to you. Do not follow their wishes, and beware lest they divert you from some of God’s revelations to you. If they turn away, then know that God wills to punish them for some of their sins. Indeed, many people are wicked.
[Quran 6:19] Say, “Whose testimony is the greatest?” Say, “God’s. He is the witness between me and you that this Quran* has been inspired to me, to preach it to you and whomever it reaches. Indeed, you bear witness that there are other gods* beside God.” Say, “I do not testify as you do; there is only one god, and I disown your idolatry.”
[Quran 27:91] I am simply commanded to worship the Lord of this town – He has made it a safe sanctuary – and He possesses all things. I am commanded to be a submitter.
[Quran 27:92] And to recite the Quran. Whoever is guided is guided for his own good, and if they go astray, then say, “I am simply a warner.”
[Quran 50:45] We are fully aware of everything they utter, while you have no power over them. Therefore, remind with this Quran, those who reverence My warnings.
[Quran 69:40] This is the utterance of an honorable messenger.
[Quran 69:41] Not the utterance of a poet; rarely do you believe.
[Quran 69:42] Nor the utterance of a soothsayer; rarely do you take heed.
[Quran 69:43] A revelation from the Lord of the universe.
[Quran 69:44] Had he uttered any other teachings.
[Quran 69:45] We would have punished him.
[Quran 69:46] We would have stopped the revelations to him.

  • Because God teaches us that prophet Muhammad never explained the Quran through any type of “Hadith” or “Sunna” as claimed by the vast majority of Muslims. He was commanded NOT to explain the Quran, and he followed that divine command:

[75:16] Do not move your tongue with it to hasten of it.
[75:17] Indeed, it is we who are to collect it and to recite it.
[75:18] So when we have recited it, then you (Muhammad) shall follow its recital.
[75:19] Then it is we who are to explain it.

Reward of Prophet Muhammad from God
[Quran 68:2] You have attained a great blessing from your Lord; you are not crazy.
[Quran 68:3] You have attained a recompense that is well deserved.
[Quran 68:4] You are blessed with a great moral character.

  • Because God assures us over and over that the Only Sunna we must follow is God’s Sunna (17:77, 33:38, 33:62, 35:43, 40:85, 48:23). Any other Sunnas mentioned in the Quran, are referring to the Sunna or the system of other entities and these verses teach us how we must reflect and note the bad consequences if we follow such Sunnas made by the people!! (8:38, 15:13 and 18:55):

[Quran 17:77] Such is (our) system (sunnata) with whom we sent our messengers before you (Muhammad), and you will not find any change in our system (lisunnatinaa).
[Quran 33:38] There is no blame on the prophet in doing anything that God has imposed upon him. Such is God’s system (sunnatallahi) with the people from the past. And God’s command is a plan decree.
[Quran 33:62] Such is God’s system (sunnatallahi) with the people from the past, and you will not find any change in God’s system (lisunnatillahi).
[Quran 35:43] Arrogance on earth, and plotting evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except on its own people. Then do they expect other than the way (sunnata) of the earlier generations? You will not find any change in God’s system (lisunnatillahi), and you will never find any change in God’s system (lisunnatillahi).
[Quran 40:85] But their belief did not benefit them, when they saw our retribution. Such is God’s system (sunnatallahi) that has been established with His servants. And the disbelievers were lost there.
[Quran 48:23] Such is God’s system (sunnatallahi) which is from the past, and you will not find any change in God’s system (lisunnatillahi).

  • Because God states that Quran is the Authentic, the Best and Only Hadith that the believers are to believe to lead a righteous life:

[Quran 12:111] In their stories, there is a lesson for the people of intelligence. It is not a fabricated Hadith (hadeethan), but a confirmation of what was before it (Quran) and a detailed explanation of all things, and a guidance and mercy to a people who believe.
[Quran 39:23] God has revealed herein the best Hadith; a book that is consistent, and points out both ways (to Heaven and Hell). The skins of those who reverence their Lord cringe therefrom, then their skins and their hearts soften up for God’s message. Such is God’s guidance; He bestows it upon whoever wills (to be guided). As for those sent astray by God, nothing can guide them.
[Quran 52:34] Let them produce a Hadith like this, if they are truthful.
[Quran 77:50] Which Hadith, other than this, do they believe?

  • Because God has warned us that for every prophet, there are those Satanic enemies who will always fabricate lies and attribute them to God and His prophet. We are instructed to stay away from such fabrications:

[Quran 6:112] We have permitted the enemies of every prophet – human and jinn devils – to inspire in each other fancy words, in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. You shall disregard them and their fabrications.
[Quran 6:113] This is to let the minds of those who do not believe in the Hereafter listen to such fabrications, and accept them, and thus expose their real convictions.

  • Because God teaches us that following other sources besides Him is what defines idol worship. Idol worship is the only unforgivable sin if we maintain it until death:

[Quran 3:79] Never would a human being whom God blessed with the scripture and prophethood say to the people, “Idolize me beside God.” Instead, (he would say), “Devote yourselves absolutely to your Lord alone,” according to the scripture you preach and the teachings you learn.
[Quran 12:108] Say, “This is my path: I invite to God, on the basis of a clear proof, and so do those who follow me. God be glorified. I am not an idol worshiper.”
[Quran 17:46] We place shields around their minds, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using the Quran alone,* they run away in aversion.
[Quran 39:45] When God ALONE is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion. But when others are mentioned beside Him, they become satisfied.
[Quran 4:116] God does not forgive idol worship (if maintained until death), and He forgives lesser offenses for whomever He wills. Anyone who idolizes any idol beside God has strayed far astray.

  • Because God confirms that Quran is a complete, fully detailed book that has all what we need for our salvation:

[Quran 6:115] The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.
[Quran 7:52] We have given them a scripture that is fully detailed, with knowledge, guidance, and mercy for the people who believe.
[Quran 12:111] In their history, there is a lesson for those who possess intelligence. This is not fabricated Hadith; this (Quran) confirms all previous scriptures, provides the details of everything, and is a beacon and mercy for those who believe.
[Quran 17:9] Indeed, this Quran guides to a most straight, and brings good news to the believers who lead a righteous life, that they have deserved a great recompense.
[Quran 6:51] And preach with this (Quran) to those who reverence the summoning before their Lord – they have none beside Him as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor – that they may attain salvation.

  • Because God states that Quran is infallible, clear, with no ambiguity or contradictions, and easy to learn:

[Quran 10:37] And this Quran could not be authored by other than God, which confirms what was before it, and a detailed scripture. There is no doubt in it, from the Lord of the universe.
[Quran 39:28] An Arabic Quran, without any crookedness, so that they may be righteous.
[Quran 4:82] Then why do they not study the Quran carefully? If it were from other than God, they would have found in it numerous contradictions.
[Quran 54:17] And we made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?

  • Because God has commanded us to value His words as they should be valued assigning 4 of His attributes to the Quran: great, wise, glorious and honorable:

[Quran 15:87] And surely, we have given you the seven pairs, and the Quran, the great.
[Quran 36:2] And the Quran, the wise.
[Quran 50:1] (By) Qaf and the Quran, the glorious.
[Quran 56:77] Indeed, this is an honorable Quran.
[Quran 85:21] Indeed, it is a glorious Quran.

  • Because the Quran has everything that we need to lead a righteous life:

[Quran 18:109] Say, “If the ocean were ink for the words of my Lord, the ocean would run out, before the words of my Lord run out, even if we were to bring another like it for (ink) supplement.”
[Quran 31:27] If all the trees in the earth were made into pens, and the ocean would be (ink), adding seven to it one after another, the words of God would not run out. God is Almighty, Most Wise.

Unfortunately, God has already told us that the majority of humans on earth will deviate from His only one message of worshiping Him alone and following Him alone. They resort to other sources besides God’s for religious laws and guidance. God has warned us to NOT follow the majority:
[Quran 6:116] If you obey the majority of people on earth, they will divert you from the path of God. They follow only conjecture; they only guess.
[Quran 12:103] Most people, no matter what you do, will not believe.
[Quran 12:106] The majority of those who believe in God do not do so without committing idol worship.

The following will be the messenger’s complaint on the Day of Judgment about all those who have witnessed the Quran and decided to desert it for other sources:
[Quran 25:30] The messenger said, “My Lord, my people have deserted this Quran.”
Peaceful Friday, salaam and God bless.
Tafazzal (3/13/2015)
