Verses in Quran referring to the names of 20 prophets-V

  • 10. Moses has been mentioned 136 times by name in the Quran found in 131 verses across 33 surahs. He had spoken to God and God has chosen him with His messages and words over the people of the world and he was given nine miracles, while Moses and Aaron were sent to Pharaoh and his leaders with His signs.

[2:51] And when we had made an appointment of Moses for forty-nights, then you had taken the calf after him, and you had been wrongdoers.

[2:53] And when we had given Moses the scripture and the statute book that you may be guided.

[2:54] And when Moses said to his people, “O my people; indeed, you have wronged your souls by taking of you the calf. So, you shall repent to your Creator and shall kill your egos. That is better for you with your Creator.” Then He had turned to you; indeed, He is the Redeemer, the Merciful.

[2:55] And when you said, “O Moses, we will not believe until we see God in manifestation.” Then the lightning had struck you, while you were looking.

[2:60] And when Moses asked for water for his people, then we said, “Strike the stone with your staff.” Then there had gushed forth twelve springs from it. Certainly, every people knew their drinking place. “Eat and drink from a provision of God, and do not act like wicked in the earth being corruptors.”

[2:61] And when you said, “O Moses, we cannot endure on food of one kind, so call your Lord for us to produce for us from what the earth grows of its beans, and its cucumbers, and its garlic, and its lentils, and its onions.” He said, “Would you exchange that which is inferior to that which is better? Go down to Egypt, then indeed, there is for you what you have asked for.” And there had been struck on them the humiliation and the misery, and they had brought upon themselves wrath of God. That was of that they had done to disbelieve in God’s signs and kill the prophets without the justice. That was of that they had disobeyed, and they had done to transgress.

[2:67] Moses said to his people, “Indeed, God commands you that you slaughter a cow.” They said, “Do you take us in ridicule?” He said, “I seek refuge in God lest I would be with the ignorant ones.”

[2:87] And certainly, we had given Moses the scripture and had followed up after of him with the messengers, and we had given Jesus, son of Mary the profound miracles and had supported him with the Holy Spirit. Is it that every time a messenger has come to you with what does not desire your egos, you have been arrogant? So, a party of you has denied, and a party of you kill.

[2:92] And certainly, there had come to you Moses with the clear signs, then you had taken the calf after of him, and you had been wrongdoers.

[2:108] Or do you wish that you ask your messenger like that Moses had been asked before? And whoever exchanges the disbelief with the faith, then certainly, he has strayed off the path of evenness.

[2:136] Say, “We have believed in God, and what has been sent down to us, and what has been sent down to Abraham and Ismail and Isaac and Jacob and the Patriarchs; and what has been given to Moses and Jesus, and what has been given to the prophets from their Lord. We do not make distinction between anyone of them. And we are Submitters to Him.”

[2:246] Did you see to the leaders of Children of Israel after Moses? When they said to a prophet to them, “Appoint a king for us, we will fight in a way of God.” He said, “Would you have done if the fighting had been decreed upon you that you would not fight?” They said, “And what is for us that we would not fight in a path of God, when certainly, we have been driven from our homes and our children?” Then when the fighting had been decreed upon them, they had turned away except a few from them, and God is Knower of the wrongdoers.

[2:248] Their prophet said to them, “Indeed, a sign of his kingship is that the ark will come to you in it there will be a tranquility from your Lord, and a legacy of what has left a family of Moses and a family of Aaron, carrying it by the angels. Indeed, in that there is surely a sign for you, if you have been believers.”

[3:84] Say, “We have believed in God, and what has been sent down to us, and what has been sent down to Abraham, and Ismail, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and what has been given to Moses, and Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We do not make distinction between anyone of them, and we are submitters to Him.”

[4:153] People of the scripture (Jews) ask you (Muhammad) that you bring down to them a book from the heaven, while certainly, they had asked Moses greater than that as they said, “Show us God in manifestation.” So, the lightning had struck them because of their wrongdoing. Then they had taken the calf after what had come to them was the clear proofs. Then we had pardoned about that. And we had given Moses a clear authority.

[4:164] Messengers certainly, we have narrated them through you (prophet) before (of yourself), and messengers we do not narrate them through you. And God had spoken a conversation to Moses.

[5:20] And when Moses said to his people, “O my people, you shall remember God’s blessing upon you, when He had made prophets among you, and had made you kings, and gave you what He had not given to anyone of the people of the world.

[5:22] They said, “Indeed, O Moses, there is a people of tyrannical strength in it, and indeed, we will not enter it until they leave from it. So, if they leave from it, then certainly, we will be the entering ones.”

[5:24] They said, “O Moses, we will never ever enter it, so long as they have been in it. So go you and your Lord, then you (both) fight. Indeed, we are sitting right here.”

[6:84] And we had granted to him (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob – each we had guided. And Noah we had guided before of (them), and of his descendants: David, and Solomon, and Job, and Joseph, and Moses, and Aaron. And thus that we reward the gooddoers.

[6:91] They have not appraised God truth of His appraisal when they said, “God has not sent down anything to a human being.” Say, “Who has sent down the scripture which had come to Moses with it a light and guidance for the people? You make it parchments to proclaim it, and to conceal a lot. You have been taught what you did not know, you nor your forefathers.” Say, “God.” Then leave them in their discourse to play.

[6:154] Then we had given Moses the scripture, is complete for who has done good, and an explanation for all things, and a guidance and mercy that they may believe in meeting of their Lord.

[7:103] Then after of them (Noah, Hud, Saleh, Lut and Shuaib) we had sent Moses with our signs to Pharaoh and his leaders, but they had been unjust to them that you shall see how had been an end of the corruptors.

[7:104] And Moses said, “O Pharaoh, indeed, I am a messenger from Lord of the worlds.

[7:115] They said, “O Moses, whether that you will throw, or whether that we will be the throwers.”

[7:117] And we had inspired to Moses that you shall throw your staff, then when it would swallow whatever they fabricated.

[7:122] Lord of Moses and Aaron.”

[7:127] And the leaders from Pharaoh’s people said, “Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the earth and to forsake you and your gods?” He said, “We will kill their sons and will let live their women, and we are subjugators over of them.”

[7:128] Moses said to his people, “You shall seek help to God and shall be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to God. He causes to inherit it to whomever He wills of His servants, and the end is for the righteous.”

[7:131] Then when there had come to them the good, they said, “For us is this.” And if a bad afflicts them, they blame to Moses and whoever is with him. No doubt, their evil is only with God, but most of them do not know.

[7:134] And whenever the punishment had fallen upon them, they said, “O Moses, call your Lord for us of what He has promised to you. If you have removed the punishment from us, surely, we will believe to you and surely, we will send children of Israel with you.”

[7:138] And we had led Children of Israel across the sea. Then they had come to a people devoted to idols having them. They said, “O Moses, make for us a god like what gods belong to them.” He said, “Indeed, you are a people to be ignorant.

[7:142] And we had made an appointment of Moses for thirty-night, and we had completed it including ten. Thus, he had completed a set term of his Lord for forty-night, and Moses said to his brother Aaron, “You shall succeed in my people and shall reform, and do not follow a way of the corruptors.”

[7:143] And when Moses had come to our appointment, and his Lord had spoken to him; he said, “My Lord, show me I can look at You.” He said, “You cannot see Me but look at the mountain, then if it has stayed in its place, then you can see Me.” Then when his Lord had revealed to the mountain, He made it crumbled to dust, and Moses had fallen down unconscious. Then when he had recovered, he said, “Glory is Yours, I have repented to You and I am first of the believers.”

[7:144] He said, “O Moses, indeed, I have chosen you over the people with My messages and with My words. So, take what I have given you and be with the grateful.

[7:148] And a people of Moses after of him (in absence of him) had taken an image of a calf for it from their jewelry having lowing sound. Did they not see that it could not speak to them, nor could it guide them to a (right) path? They had taken it and had been wrongdoers.

[7:150] And when Moses had returned to his people with anger and grief, he said, “It has been evil what you have done after of me. Have you been impatient for a commandment of your Lord?” And he had thrown down the tablets, and took hold of his brother by head, pulling him towards himself. He (his brother) said, “Son of my mother; indeed, the people have considered me weak and they have been almost to kill me. So, do not think of me the enemies, nor do you make me with the people of the wrongdoers.”

[7:154] And when the anger had calmed down from Moses, he picked up the tablets, and in their inscription there was guidance and mercy for those who – they fear of their Lord.

[7:155] And Moses had selected seventy men from his people for our appointment. Then when the quake had seized them, he said, “My Lord, if You had willed, You could have destroyed them before and also me. Would You destroy us for what has done the foolish among us? This is not except Your test; You misguide with it whomever You will, and You guide whomever You will. You are our Protector, so forgive for us and have mercy on us, and You are a best of the forgiving ones.

[7:159] And a community from a people of Moses guides with the truth and establishes justice with it (truth).

[7:160] And we had divided them into twelve tribes of communities and we had inspired to Moses when his people had asked him for water that you shall strike the rock with your staff. Then there had gushed forth twelve springs from it; certainly, each community had known of their drinking place. And we had shaded them with the clouds and had sent down to them the manna and the quail: “Eat from good things what we have provided for you.” And they had not wronged to us, but they had done to wrong to themselves.

[10:75] Then we had sent after of them Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his leaders with our signs, while they had been arrogant, and had been a people of criminals.

[10:77] Moses said, “Would you say about the truth when it has come to you is this magic? While the magicians could not succeed.”

[10:80] So when the magicians had come, Moses said to them, “Throw whatever you throw.”

[10:81] Then when they had thrown, Moses said, “What you have come with it is the magic. Indeed, God will nullify it. Indeed, God does not set right a deed of the corrupters.”

[10:83] So none had believed with Moses except descendants of his people for fear of Pharaoh and their leaders, lest he persecutes them. And indeed, Pharaoh was surely a tyrant in the earth, and indeed, he was surely one of the great transgressors.

[10:84] Moses said, “O my people, if you have believed in God, then upon Him put trust, if you have been Submitters.”

[10:87] And we had inspired to Moses and his brother that you shall settle houses in Egypt for your people and shall make your houses as places of worship, and shall establish the salat prayer, and shall give good news to the believers.

[10:88] And Moses said, “Our Lord, you have given Pharaoh and his leaders luxury and wealth in the life of the world. Our Lord, that they misguide from Your path. Our Lord, destroy of their wealth, and harden of their hearts that they cannot believe until they see the painful punishment.”

[11:17] Has he then whoever been on a clear proof from his Lord and recites it a witness from Him, and before of it a scripture of Moses was a guide and mercy? Those believe in it; and whoever disbelieves in it of the parties, then the Fire is his promised place. So you would not be in doubt about it. Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord but most of the people do not believe.

[11:96] And certainly, we had sent Moses with our signs and a clear authority.

[11:110] And certainly, we had given Moses the scripture, then there has been disputed in it, and if not it had preceded a word from your Lord, surely, it would have been judged between themselves. And indeed, they are surely in doubt from this being doubtful ones.

[14:5] And certainly, we had sent Moses with our revelations that you shall bring your people out of the darkness into the light and shall remind them with the days of God. Indeed, in that surely, there are signs for every patient and thankful one.

[14:6] And when Moses said to his people, “Remember God’s favor upon you, when He has saved you from Pharaoh’s people, they inflict you the worst torment, while they slaughter your sons and spare your women. And in that there was a difficult test from your Lord.”

[14:8] And Moses said, “If you disbelieve, you and whoever all is in the earth, then indeed, God is surely Rich, Praiseworthy.”

[17:2] And we had given Moses the scripture and had made it guidance for Children of Israel that you do not take any advocate other than Me.

[17:101] And certainly, we had given Moses nine clear signs (miracles). So you shall ask Children of Israel, when he had come to them, then Pharaoh said to him: “Indeed, I surely think that you Moses is a bewitched!

[18:60] And when Moses said to his young companion, “I will not stop until I reach a junction of the two seas, even I am to continue for long.”

[18:66] Moses said to him, “Can I follow you on that you will teach me from what you have been taught right?”

[19:51] And recall Moses in the scripture. Indeed, he has been a chosen one and has been a messenger, a prophet.

Peaceful Friday, salaam and God bless.
